New Technology to Power Company's Corporate Web Site and Enhance Information Retrieval
NEW YORK, N.Y., June 18, 2002 - New York Life Insurance Company announced today that the company has implemented new technology to automatically gather, retrieve and connect pertinent information on the company's Web site, www.newyorklife.com. With this enhancement, New York Life's Web site now offers a natural language search function that enables customers to submit queries in conversational phrases. New advanced search options include the ability for consumers to modify the number of results, and the way the results are displayed and narrowed down. Users can also view frequently requested searches and perform them with one click. This new automated technology is provided by Autonomy Corporation plc, a global leader in infrastructure software. The Autonomy technology provides newyorklife.com with one of the most sophisticated information retrieval capabilities in the insurance and financial services industries.

Launched in 1996, New York Life Insurance Company's Web site, www.newyorklife.com, is a comprehensive Internet source for insurance and financial information. The site features online customer service at the Virtual Service Center, financial calculators, online retirement and estate planning tools, an Education Center full of useful articles, Locate an Agent tool, information about the company's core life insurance products and services, and other resources devoted to assisting consumers in obtaining their financial goals. Newyorklife.com has received recognition and awards from APEX, Business Marketing magazine, DALBAR, eWeek, Financial Net News, the Life Communicators Association, and the Web Marketing Association, among others.
