Autonomy Selected for Global Prospectus Service

Autonomy Provides Automation and Superior Online Service for europrospectus.com

CAMBRIDGE, UK-May 29, 2002- Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.; Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that europrospectus.com, the online prospectus service, has chosen to implement Autonomy's technology to personalize and deliver vast quantities of relevant information to users of the site, thereby impacting significantly on the bottom line.

Autonomy will automatically aggregate content for europrospectus.com from more than 100,000 sources in real-time, including debt, equity and warrant prospectuses, as well as mergers and acquisitions documents. The service will bring direct benefit to users as diverse as investment bankers, lawyers, asset managers, regulators, exchanges, clearing houses and trustees, for whom Autonomy will generate automatic hyperlinks to related content, and will provide automatic personalization of relevant information. Costly manual processes will be virtually eliminated, and Autonomy will drive an effectively differentiated online experience. europrospectus.com's implementation of Autonomy will also enable natural language text, field and clause retrieval in a matter of seconds as opposed to the weeks this would take using traditional methods.

Marcus ter Kuile, President and CEO of europrospectus.com today commented, "We are delighted to have Autonomy's highly scalable technology powering our new site. Autonomy will enable us to offer a vastly superior service to our significant user base of bankers, lawyers, asset managers and other professional participants. We were particularly impressed with Autonomy's ability to automatically deliver critical 'more like this' information on the site".

Mike Lynch, Founder and CEO of Autonomy noted the importance of leveraging critical, timely information in this area, "It is vital that Prospectus Services are able to provide highly relevant content to their clients, who work in short timescales and cannot afford to waste time trawling through masses of irrelevant data. europrospectus.com's deployment of Autonomy is an excellent example of the way in which the technology can be used to add significant value in information rich areas".

Autonomy's unique Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) integrates unstructured, semi-structured and structured information from multiple repositories through an understanding of the content. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to analyze text and voice (in any language) and identify and rank the main concepts within it. It then automatically categorizes, links, personalizes and delivers that information. Autonomy's infrastructure technology is used to automate operations within enterprise information portals, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence and e-business applications, among others.
