East Midlands Ambulance Service dials 999 for a Cardiff rescue

Brentford, Middlesex - 2002-05-22 - When East Midlands Ambulance Service found its administration and paperwork was becoming a major problem it turned to Cardiff's reseller Reef Document Solutions for the answer.

Reef have supplied East Midlands Ambulance Service with an innovative document management system combining Cardiff's world renowned TELEform flexible data capture system with Hyland's Onbase Integrated Document Management System. The system offers East Midlands Ambulance Service a complete document capture and management solution that will save valuable time on a variety of administration tasks.

Like many ambulance services around the country, East Midlands generates about 6000 patient records per week, which then have to be manually processed using a standard database, and filed as a paper archive. This powerful new system enables information to be captured from a scanner, fax or mail and then electronically archived for later use in a multitude of administration and statistical analysis procedures.

The implementation of the system means East Midlands Ambulance Service will have the benefit of faster access to patient records, for the police and coroner as a single record can be viewed at the touch of a button. Additionally valuable resources can be used in a more cost effective manner as labour costs are greatly reduced and a long term paper storage issue is resolved.

Reef's Managing Director, Neil Parkin is delighted Reef was able to help such a valuable service that we all take for granted, commenting: "I am excited by the scope of the installation at East Midlands Ambulance Service and hope it will be the first of many we supply to the emergency services. The effectiveness of our systems means the rescue services have more time and money to do what they are so good at, namely saving lives!"
