Autonomy And Hyperwave Announce Extended OEM Partnership

Autonomy joins forces with Hyperwave to develop mutual prospects in the Knowledge Management and e-learning sector

San Francisco, CA-May 10, 2002- Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.; Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a leading provider of infrastructure software for the enterprise, and Hyperwave, a leading provider of collaborative knowledge management solutions, today announced an extended OEM partnership.

Under the terms of the agreement, Autonomy and Hyperwave will work together to deliver the collaborative benefits of Autonomy's infrastructure technology and Hyperwave's eKnowledge solutions, and will recommend each other's technologies. The two organizations will pursue joint opportunities and support each other's marketing efforts. The partnership agreement is global and strengthens the existing OEM relationship that the two companies have benefited from since 1999.

Christoph Michel, CEO of Hyperwave said, "Partnering with Autonomy is a crucial step forward in creating a stronger force that will deliver truly collaborative knowledge management and e-learning solutions. With Autonomy's leading automation technologies, Hyperwave is prepared to meet the challenges of today's knowledge economy for its customers."

Autonomy's software analyzes text, voice and video in any language and can identify and rank the main concepts within them. It can then automatically categorize, link, personalize and deliver relevant information across multiple devices. The technology is used to automate these operations within the eKnowledge Infrastructure.

Autonomy CEO and founder Mike Lynch today commented, "We believe this to be an inevitable partnership reflecting the natural way in which both the Hyperwave and Autonomy technologies integrate," said Lynch. "We are very pleased to be working with Hyperwave who are a leading provider in the collaborative KM and e-learning space."

Launched last year, Hyperwave's eKnowledge Infrastructure provides a single knowledge management and e-learning platform combining document management, content management, workflow, information retrieval and e-learning. Autonomy inside Hyperwave enables faster and more accurate data retrieval using agents, and through Autonomy's highly scalable categorization, content is placed in the right location automatically.

About Hyperwave

Hyperwave provides collaborative knowledge management systems that enable organizations to create and access information anywhere in the extended enterprise and deliver it to employees, customers and partners.

Hyperwave delivers the solutions through its eKnowledge Infrastructure - an integrated knowledge management/eLearning suite of applications incorporating content and document management, search and retrieval, workflow, collaboration and e learning. It also includes a portal product, providing a single personalized point of access to all information, integration with other systems, and enabling collaboration on projects.

The Hyperwave eKnowledge Infrastructure consists of three principal products that can be implemented as an individual or multiple solution: the eKnowledge Suite, the eKnowledge Portal and the eLearning Suite.

Hyperwave was founded in 1997 and very quickly established itself as a leader in knowledge management and portal-based solutions. The company has its headquarters in Germany and subsidiaries in North America, the UK, France and Switzerland, and has a research and development centre in Graz, Austria. The eKnowledge Infrastructure is based on Hyperwave's Information Server technology, which was launched at CeBIT 1997 in Hanover, Germany, and won the BYTE magazine "Best of show award" for outstanding achievement in innovation and technology. In the same year, the European Union also awarded the product the "IT Prize for New and Innovative Products".
