Cardiff Software Certifies Kofax's VirtualReScan® Document Image-Perfecting Technology for Use with Cardiff TELEform® V8.0

TELEform, coupled with VRS, enables organizations to save time preparing documents for scanning, increase OCR accuracy and eliminate rescanning when converting paper forms to electronic information

San Diego - 2002-04-26 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leading global provider of business process-automation solutions, today announced it has certified Kofax VirtualReScan (VRS) document image-perfecting technology for use with TELEform v8.0. As a result, TELEform v8.0 customers can now benefit from VRS-equipped scanners that increase scanning capacity and produce readable data from documents that were once difficult to scan.

"Cardiff customers will notice increased accuracy of data extracted from hand-printed form entries, as well as the readability of the documents," said Emily Deere, director of product management with Cardiff. "VRS provides excellent form identification for odd size pages and color documents, taking irregular-sized color documents and easily converting them into clean black and white images."

Customers using TELEform v8.0, coupled with VRS, can save time preparing documents for scanning, increase optical character recognition (OCR) accuracy and eliminate expensive, time-consuming document rescanning.

The Cardiff certification reinforces the test results obtained by Doculabs Inc. (www.doculabs.com), an independent research and consulting firm. The Doculabs study found that VRS reduces document prep time, increases optical character recognition (OCR) accuracy by about 35 percent and eliminates expensive rescanning. A white paper containing the data can be read at http://www.kofax.com/learning/whitepapers/.

"The great news for customers is that TELEform v8.0 and VRS - working together - will make electronic forms processing feasible in more situations than ever," said Rick Murphy, general manager for Kofax's Image Processing group. "The efficiency of existing applications can be increased by adding Software VRS or upgrading to one of many VRS-enabled scanners."

Integration of TELEform v8.0 with VRS enables organizations to scan mixed document types without manual sorting, and automatically crop, straighten and adjust exposure for each document, including those with unique specifications and characteristics, without slowing the scanner. VRS also enhances the quality of each document by adjusting the alignment, brightness, contrast and image clarity. In addition, it enables TELEform to extract data from documents of virtually any size, shape or color, including checks, receipts and student transcripts in a single batch, removing extraneous lines, shading or other data.

TELEform enables enterprise and government organizations to quickly capture, extract, verify, process and index large quantities of information from paper or online sources using production-level scanners, fax servers and the Internet. TELEform automatically sends clean data, documents and attachments to multiple archive and retrieval systems. Built-in and custom XML Connect Agents allow for round-trip data flow and easy integration with enterprise systems.
