Virage Selected for Global Communications and Learning Initiative at Networking Leader

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2002-- Virage, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRGE), a leading provider of video and rich media communication software, announced today that Cisco has selected the Virage VS Webcasting(TM) solution for global rich media communication and education initiatives. VS Webcasting is one of four turnkey Virage enterprise solutions based on the company's Rich Media Application Platform.

Cisco has deployed the Virage webcasting software in four corporate studios, including Studio 8, a global initiative aimed at improving the way Cisco communicates with its employees, customers and other key audiences on a daily basis. Cisco built Studio 8 facility to support a broad range of corporate communications initiatives including sales and technical training, partner communications and training, product launches, marketing initiatives and investor relations. The broadcast-quality Studio 8 produces an average of 40 hours of content a week for sales training alone.

The Virage webcasting solution enables clients to produce and distribute a wealth of rich media information for employee communications, customer presentations, product demonstrations and other critical exchanges of information. Customers can use VS Webcasting to produce a live event and make it available for on-demand viewing, all in real-time. The new Virage solution is perfect for business communication in today's fast-paced world, where the difference of having a rich media capability translates to a competitive advantage.

``Virage is working hand-in-hand with Cisco to change the way information is communicated and shared within their global organization,'' said Dave Girouard, SVP of marketing and corporate strategy. ``We're laying the groundwork for communication and training solutions at many global enterprises.''

Cisco's Internet Learning Solutions Group (ILSG) uses VS Webcasting in conjunction with Cisco IP/TV and CDN to produce rich media communication and training programs.
