Cardiff Partners with Metastorm to Deliver Automated XML, PDF and HTML eForms with Leading Business Process Management (BPM) Solution
Enables organizations to deploy and use automated online forms via standard Web browsers
San Diego - 2002-02-25 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leader in XML-based enterprise business and process-automation solutions, today announced the availability of its LiquidOffice™ eForm Management System within Metastorm e-work. The combination of Cardiff's award-winning LiquidOffice and Metastorm's Business Process Management software provides hi-fidelity HTML and PDF eForms with the ability to initiate automated business processes.
"The partnership between Cardiff and Metastorm fills a market need for an eForms solution that brings together the leading process management technology with the premier forms technology," said Avi Hoffer, CEO for Metastorm. "By leveraging the hundreds of millions of users of Adobe's Acrobat Reader, Cardiff and Metastorm can offer an end-to-end solution unparalleled in the industry, providing a way for commercial and government organizations to streamline hundreds of customer and public-facing processes in a fraction of the time and cost. By supporting government mandates such as the Government Paperwork Elimination Act (GPEA), the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-Signature Act), and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, government agencies working to deliver citizen services can now offer solutions that truly deliver on the promise of responsive government."
Leveraging LiquidOffice's Enterprise Access and Public Access options, e-work users behind the firewall and on the Internet have instant access to highly interactive HTML and PDF-based eForms. Once submitted, these forms trigger the initiation of simple or complex digitally automated process running on e-work, allowing for the automated handling of multiple system integration, approval, work assignments, and exception processing.
An additional key strength of this combined system is its ability to enable non-technical managers to participate in defining, creating and managing the entire business process thus allowing the technical staff to focus on integration, testing and platform management.
LiquidOffice includes a point-and-click form designer, which creates new forms or converts existing forms into automated HTML or PDF forms. Also included is the LiquidOffice Form Server, which provides sophisticated server-based form automation capabilities, including:
• XML form description and revision control
• Publishing Agents for HTML and PDF eForm presentation
• Auto-form-fill from database and auto-fill from user profile
• Dynamic pull-down and menu selections from database query
• Automated server-based data validation
• Business rules-based data processing
• XML, open database connectivity (ODBC), and Java™ database connectivity (JDBC) export connect agents
LiquidOffice uses an XML Web services architecture that mirrors Microsoft® .NET and the SunTM Open Network Environment (ONE) to deliver intelligent eForms to internal and public Internet users. This approach allows LiquidOffice to eliminate the need to license and install ActiveXTM or Java applet eForm plug-in applications ó fillers ó on every worker or user desktop. By using open standards, LiquidOffice significantly reduces the cost of acquisition, deployment and ownership of eForm systems when compared to historical filler approaches.
"Cardiff is proud of the Metastorm partnership and we expect substantial numbers of organizations to use the LiquidOffice platform to deploy user and citizen-facing forms based on both the PDF and HTML format," said Mark Seamans, vice president, technology and business development for Cardiff. "Cardiff's focus on open standards and high-fidelity forms interaction combines nicely with the powerful e-work process automation platform to deliver a solution that is outstanding both outside and behind the firewall."
