Autonomy And Groove Networks Forge Technology Partnership
Integrated Solution Expands Business Collaboration Within and Across Enterprises
San Francisco, CA and Beverley, MA -February 19, 2002-Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU., Nasdaq Europe: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced a technology partnership with Groove Networks Inc., the leading provider of decentralized software for secure business collaboration. Autonomy and Groove Networks™ will provide a joint solution that enables cross-company teams to work more efficiently by automatically connecting the right people, information and tools so projects can be completed on time and within budget.
The two companies previewed their joint solution at a pharmaceutical industry seminar in New Jersey last week. The seminar was the first of many joint sales and marketing activities the companies intend to pursue as part of the partnership.
Autonomy's software automatically profiles employees based on the content they read or submit to the system. It then automatically delivers relevant information from multiple repositories to employees as they work and allows the enterprise to identify knowledge experts. Groove® software enables work teams to form quickly and collaborate together securely. The combination of the Groove software's decentralized communications capabilities and Autonomy's intelligent infrastructure will significantly enhance intra- and inter-company knowledge sharing, helping reduce development time for products and accelerate decision-making.
"Our customers are looking for solutions that support more effective collaboration among teams, particularly cross-agency collaboration and coordination," said John Olson, director of BAE SYSTEMS' enterprise systems business unit. "Our government clients would be extremely receptive to a Groove-Autonomy connector that integrates the real-time decentralized communications capabilities of Groove with Autonomy's expertise in aggregating and delivering information from multiple back end data sources."
"Groove offers a unique peer computing platform that allows enterprises to create secure interactive work spaces," said Stouffer Egan, general manager, Autonomy North America. "The combination of Groove Networks' innovative collaboration technology with Autonomy's infrastructure software will give government agencies and enterprises a powerful solution to maximize their employees' knowledge and foster rapid information exchange. Collaboration and relevant up-to-the minute data is absolutely essential in today's business environment."
Groove Networks provides a decentralized software platform that enables business teams to collaborate within secure, shared virtual spaces in real time or offline. Groove supports how intra- and inter-company teams naturally form and work together to complete projects, and resolve business problems. Autonomy's software analyzes text and audio, identifies and ranks the main concepts within it, then automatically categorizes, links, personalizes and delivers that information wherever it is needed.
"Today's knowledge workers spend too much time searching for and retrieving reports and emails, and not enough time working with colleagues and partners to complete important projects," said Steve Wilkinson, vice president of Alliances for Groove Networks. "Our joint solution will help workers bring together the right people, information and tools to get things done."
