Autonomy Honored By KMWorld Magazine For Second Straight Year

Infrastructure Technology Recognized As Foremost Leader In Knowledge Management

San Francisco, Calif., February 1, 2002-Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; Nasdaq Europe: AUTN; LSE: AU.), a leading provider of infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that it has received KMWorld's "100 Companies that Matter in KM" award. KMWorld included Autonomy for the second straight year as one of the most important companies in knowledge management.

Every year KMWorld recognizes the top 100 companies that matter most in the knowledge management industry. The award distinguishes organizations across various industries that exhibit strong leadership and technological innovation. In addition, award recipients are identified as market makers, solutions technology makers, solutions service makers and infrastructure technology makers. This year's winners are profiled in the February 2002 issue of KMWorld.

"Effective knowledge management is a critical issue to the successful global business and we are pleased to recognize the strength of Autonomy's technology by naming the company one of the KMWorld 100," said Hugh McKeller, executive editor of KMWorld.

"Because the growth of unstructured data is widespread and significant, Autonomy's infrastructure technology can be used by, and is needed in, virtually all business software applications," said Mike Lynch, Autonomy CEO and founder. "As a primary knowledge management publication, KMWorld's recognition and praise of Autonomy's technology, for the second year in a row, further validates our leadership position in the industry."

Autonomy's infrastructure technology automatically delivers information from multiple repositories through an understanding of the underlying meaning of content, enabling companies and individual to share knowledge and work more effectively. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to analyze voice and text (in any language) and identify and rank the main concepts within them. It then automatically categorizes, links, personalizes and delivers that information.
