Cardiff Announces LiquidOffice™ with Optika; Integrates Automated XML, Adobe PDF and HTML eForms with Imaging and Workflow Functionality

Enables Organizations to Deploy and Use Automated Online Forms via Standard Web Browsers, Adobe® Acrobat®, Approval and Reader™

San Diego - 2002-01-17 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leader in XML-based enterprise business and process automation solutions, today announced LiquidOffice integration with Optika, Inc. (Nasdaq:OPTK), a leading provider of imaging, workflow and collaboration software. Cardiff integrates its award-winning LiquidOffice eForm Management System with Optika's Acorde™, resulting in workflow-enabled HTML and Adobe PDF eForms.

LiquidOffice combines intelligent HTML and Adobe PDF eForms that enable organizations to automatically route, approve and process online forms. When compared to manual forms processing, LiquidOffice can save an organization up to $150 for every form used by every worker, every day.

"We are impressed with LiquidOffice's innovative approach to using HTML and Adobe PDF standards," said Mark Ruport, president, CEO and chairman of Optika. "The strength and ease of use of the integration ensures a high return on investment for our joint customers."

The integration of Acorde and LiquidOffice enables users to complete and submit online forms using standard Web browsers. Completed forms are automatically stored in Acorde, where business rules and routing can be applied for automated processing. As a result of the integration, organizations can dramatically reduce the amount of paper used for daily transactions, streamline processes, eliminate printing and storage costs, and replace manual data entry with online form submission.

"Optika has been a valued partner for many years," said Dennis Clerke, CEO of Cardiff Software. "The integration of LiquidOffice with Acorde further strengthens our longstanding partnership and provides a single comprehensive solution for eForms management and workflow."

LiquidOffice includes a point-and-click form designer used to create new forms or to convert existing forms into automated HTML or Adobe PDF forms. Also included is the LiquidOffice Form Server, which provides sophisticated server-based form automation capabilities, including:

• XML form description and revision control

• Publishing Agents for HTML and Adobe PDF eForm presentation

• Auto-form-fill from database and auto-fill from user profile

• Dynamic pull-down and menu selections from database query

• Automated server-based data validation

• Business rules-based data processing

• Complete integration with Optika's Acorde™ imaging and workflow functionality

• XML, open database connectivity and Java™ database connectivity export connect agents

• Adobe PDF and index form archive

LiquidOffice uses an XML Web services architecture that mirrors Microsoft® .NET and the Sun™ Open Network Environment to deliver intelligent eForms to internal and public Internet users. This approach eliminates the need for LiquidOffice to license and install ActiveX™ or Java applet eForm plug-in applications ó known as "fillers" ó on every worker or user desktop. By using open standards, LiquidOffice significantly reduces the cost of acquisition, deployment and ownership of eForm systems when compared to historical filler approaches.
