Electrocomponents Chooses Verity Software for its New Pan-European Internet Trading Channel
SUNNYVALE, CA - 2002-01-15 - Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of infrastructure software that powers enterprise and e-commerce portals as well as e-business applications, today announced that Electrocomponents, an international electrical, electronic and industrial supplies distribution group, has selected Verity K2 Catalog portal infrastructure software for its new pan-European Internet trading channel, EURO ITC. Verity will provide multi-lingual search for seven languages across this e-commerce site.
Verity K2 Catalog will allow Electrocomponents' customers to search for 700,000 products across the equivalent of 22,000 catalog pages from 10 different European markets on EURO ITC. This extensive e-commerce Web site includes 10 localized 'stores' that serve the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Austria, Ireland, Belgium, Spain and Holland.
Verity K2 Catalog helps businesses attract and retain customers by providing them with industry-leading search and classification capabilities, along with adaptive personalization, parametric search, virtually unlimited scalability and rapid e-business integration.
Each of Electrocomponents' markets has a broad local language product range of up to 130,000 products covering electrical, electronic, industrial, health and safety and IT equipment. This ranges from small resistors to oscilloscopes. Traditionally, the company's European customers outside of the UK have accessed its product range through a large printed catalogue of more than 5,000 pages, or through a static CD-ROM. EURO ITC provides a faster and more accurate means of finding and purchasing products for their day-to-day requirements.
