Virage Appoints Stanford Au As New Vice President of Engineering
SAN MATEO, CALIF. - January 14, 2002 - Virage Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-scale video content management and publishing solutions, today announced the appointment of Stanford Au as the company's new vice president of engineering. Au will manage all engineering and software development initiatives for Virage.
Most recently, Au was vice president of the Netscape Application Server Engineering Team. Prior to Netscape, Au was a director of engineering for Kiva-later acquired by Netscape. Before joining Kiva, Au spent seven years with Sun Microsystems and five years with Hewlett-Packard Company in senior engineer positions. Au holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from UC Berkeley. He replaces Gilbert Wai, who has decided to leave the company to spend more time with his family.

Virage also announced the appointment of Dave Girouard to senior vice president of marketing and corporate strategy. Girouard has been with the company since 1997 and will now oversee all product marketing, corporate marketing, public relations and strategic planning initiatives. Carlos Montalvo, Virage's chief marketing officer, has departed to pursue other opportunities.
