Autonomy Customers Honored Throughout The World For Technology Innovation

OEM Customer Wins 2001 EMMA Award and Two Autonomy-Powered Portals Win InfoWorld 100 Award

San Francisco, CA -December 13, 2001- Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; Nasdaq Europe: AUTN; LSE: AU.), a leading provider of infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that one of its OEM customers, Relevare, was honored with a 2001 International EMMA (Electronic Multimedia Awards) in the Technical Excellence category.

In addition, United States Army's information portal, Army Knowledge Online (AKO), and the Ford Motor Learning Network, were selected for the InfoWorld 100 award for sites that prove innovation.

EMMA is a European-based international awards program that attracts entries from more than 40 countries and has the widest reach of any digital event worldwide. EMMA selected Relevare's software for its usability. Relevare enables users to access relevant information from the Internet or corporate Intranet via an easy, iconic, intuitive interface, which is also ideal for access via hand-held wireless devices. The company developed its graphical, no keyboard, no key-word graphical Internet interface, based on Autonomy's infrastructure software.

"We feel honored to receive the prestigious EMMA Award for our revolutionary technology and recognize that Autonomy's technology is a vital part of our success, " said Ken Taylor, Relevare Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. "Autonomy's technology allowed us to produce a product that truly changes the way we navigate information on the Internet. With Autonomy's technology, Relevare can automatically aggregate, link and deliver information based on an understanding of the content. This means that our customers get the most up-to-the-minute, relevant information for their industry through their Vortals."

InfoWorld honored Ford and the U.S. Army for their information portals. InfoWorld selected 100 companies that have deployed innovative sites. Ford established the Ford Learning Network to educate employees throughout the company and allow them to increase their knowledge while on the job. With Autonomy's infrastructure software 150,000 Ford employees have access to content from corporate applications, legacy information systems, including Ford's e-learning content and classroom materials, Ford's research libraries and other company databases.

As part of the AKO technology development, the U.S. Army deployed Autonomy's infrastructure technology. Autonomy integrates information from multiple repositories through an understanding of the underlying meaning of content allowing soldiers to share knowledge and work more effectively across the Web. At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to analyze text and voice (in any language) and identify and rank the main concepts within it. It then automatically categorizes, links, personalizes and delivers that information.

"Regardless of their market sector, organizations today need to harness the explosion of information and get it to their employees in a manner that allows them to do their jobs more efficiently," said Mike Lynch Autonomy CEO and founder. "Relevare, Ford and the U.S. Army, met this challenge by developing unique, automated information solutions. We are delighted that their innovative deployments have been honored by EMMA and InfoWorld."
