Verity Wins Prestigious Award from eWEEK Magazine and Technology Managers Forum
Verity's Contribution to the State of California Portal Wins Technology Innovation Award
SUNNYVALE, CA. - 2001-10-19 - Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), the leading provider of infrastructure software that powers enterprise and e-commerce portals as well as e-business applications, today announced that it has won the Best Practice Award 2001 for Technology Innovation with the State of California for its award-winning Web site, MyCalifornia (my.ca.gov). The Best Practice Award (BPA) is an annual honor co-sponsored by eWEEK magazine and the Technology Managers Forum, a professional association for high-ranking information technology managers.
The award-winning MyCalifornia portal offers state residents a single access point for all state government information and services. Verity's advanced search software helps to improve the accuracy and efficiency of queries on the Web site, making visits to the portal an easier and more productive experience for all users. The highly scalable nature of the software helps the State of California portal handle the high volume of traffic - approximately one million hits per day - and the continuous flow of content from different state agencies. The successful portal is the result of a collaboration of Verity, BroadVision, Deloitte Consulting, Interwoven and Kana Software.
"The State of California has designed a forward-thinking portal that streamlines state operations by giving its citizens quick and easy access to all government information," said Mike Zuckerman, vice president of marketing for Verity. "Verity is proud to be recognized by the Technology Managers Forum and eWEEK for our role in driving efficiency and improving information sharing for visitors to the MyCalifornia portal."
The BPA program recognizes quality achievements in technology management that provide a competitive advantage to business. The term "Best Practice" denotes a standard of excellence that has been achieved within an organization and refers to a process that can be quantified, adapted and repeated. Eligible companies must have a minimum of $200 million in annual gross income and applications that are used by at least 200 people.
