The States of North Dakota and Kentucky Select Cardiff to Automate Government Processes
North Dakota streamlines tax returns processing; Kentucky automates voter credit system
San Diego - 2001-09-10 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leader in XML-based business and process automation solutions, today announced that the Cardiff TELEform® Information Capture System has been selected by the states of North Dakota and Kentucky to automate the processing of forms in support of eGovernment initiatives.
Cardiff's products are used to automate citizen-facing and internal agency forms processes within a wide range of local, state and federal agencies. Cardiff's products eliminate manual data entry, and automatically process paper and online Web forms, reducing costs and improving service to the citizenry.
North Dakota's Tax and IT Departments selected Cardiff TELEform to automate the processing of the state's sales and individual income tax forms, which total about one million forms per year. By using Cardiff TELEform to automatically convert paper into online information, the state is able to process more forms in less time and increase the quality of collected data. The state has also realized significant cost savings, first through the reduction in data entry labor requirements, and then by replacing traditional paper files and storage with Web-based archive and retrieval.
"For the state of North Dakota, Cardiff TELEform has exceeded all of our expectations," said North Dakota's Tax Commissioner Rick Clayburgh. "We have increased our processing efficiencies and accuracy, and have improved customer service through the near-immediate access to a return. This was an extremely detailed integration with many complex variables, which demonstrates the flexibility of Cardiff's automated system."
The Kentucky State Board of Elections implemented Cardiff TELEform to automate the updating process for its voter credit system, a voter history statistical database that is vital to the state's political campaign process. By ensuring a timely and accurate system, the board eliminated a two-month updating backlog of more than 600,000 precinct roster forms, and greatly increased access to key political marketing information for eligible candidates and committees.
"Being able to provide timely, accurate information to eligible candidates and committees is a benefit that you cannot put a price tag on," said Mary Sue Helm, executive director of the Kentucky State Board of Elections. "It's enticing to candidates and important to the political process, and that's why it's important to us to keep it updated and accurate."
