NativeMinds Enhances NeuroServer to Accelerate Deployment of Natural Language Virtual Service Agents

New enterprise capabilities include ability to create and maintain multiple vReps from a single server and support for IBM DB2

San Francisco, CA - 2001-08-13 - NativeMinds Inc., a leading provider of online customer self-service software, today announced new enhancements to NeuroServer®, its flagship product used to create, implement and maintain virtual service representatives - or vReps™. vReps are automated, online service agents that answer customers' frequently asked questions, preempting the need for more expensive human intervention. In addition to support for IBM DB2 databases, the enhanced NeuroServer now makes it possible to create and run multiple vReps on a single server, which can significantly lower hardware, development and maintenance costs.

The ability to run multiple vReps on one server enables businesses to reduce IT overhead by eliminating the need for additional hardware as they deploy more vReps. Moreover, development and administration of multiple vReps is simplified by running them all on the same server. Virtual rep administrators can now manage the default and back-up servers from the same interface, making it easier to manage enterprise-level needs such as load balancing and fault tolerance.

The NeuroServer Contributor Interface - a Web-accessible form that makes it easy for content owners within organizations to contribute content updates and suggestions - has also been upgraded in direct response to customer demand to work seamlessly with Active Server Pages. Support for Active Server Pages (ASP) shortens the time needed to display relevant answers when using NT-based Web servers. Additionally, the Active Server Pages are more flexible than HTML, allowing for easier integration with Web content databases, so that information can be displayed automatically without the need for additional connectivity modules. Active Server Pages also help vRep images load faster than standard HTML and provide greater versatility, enabling vReps to respond with more complex answers that may involve spreadsheets or other reports.

NeuroServer now includes native support for IBM DB2, in addition to the Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Access platforms that NativeMinds already supports. NativeMinds incorporated native DB2 support into its current product release as a result of customer demand specifically from clients in the financial services and insurance industries. Previously, DB2 was integrated through the use of NativeMinds' ODBC module, which enables NeuroServer to integrate with any ODBC-compliant database. NativeMinds vReps can also integrate with leading customer relationship management (CRM) applications, enabling vReps to answer customer questions based on information that might be stored in a range of databases including CRM and e-commerce systems.

"The new features of NeuroServer enhance our ability to address the enterprise requirements of our Fortune 1000 customers," said Robin Keller, vice president of engineering for NativeMinds. "With expanded enterprise-level support and a versatile development environment, NativeMinds is empowering companies to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ultimately create a more effective online customer service experience."
