Installation automates UK Doctor's Census consisting of 5,500 questionnaires, 5 pages long
Brentford, Middlesex - 2001-06-07 - Cardiff Software, specialists in eTransaction solutions, has implemented its TELEform software solution at The Royal College of Physicians to capture data and manage the results from its UK census of consultant physicians.
The Royal College of Physicians has played a pivotal role in maintaining standards of medical practice in hospitals in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. With the aim of assuring quality care for patients a census and other quarterly questionnaires have been devised to address issues concerning medical practice. Cardiff Software has been chosen to capture, verify and manage large volumes of information and deliver it directly into an access database.
Nina Pawar, medical workforce manager, of The Royal College of Physicians, comments, "We realise that the best way of assessing medical practice issues is through survey's, to perform diagnostics on individuals competencies, organisational climates and style of work. This has helped us to become more efficient as all of the work can be done in-house, instead of hiring external help."
She continued, "Every 2-3 months questionnaires are devised and sent out to 600+ physicians and the results are recorded and acted upon to give an up-to-date view of the situation throughout the year. TELEform has also improved the return rate of forms by 70% due to their new simplified formats."

About The Royal College of Physicians
The College has over 10,000 Fellows worldwide of whom approximately are 7,500 Collegiate Members. The Fellows are senior members of the medical profession, usually hospital consultants or physicians working in university departments of medicine.
The majority work is in the medical specialities. Others specialise in Occupational Health, Public Health or Pharmaceutical Medicine and practise largely outside hospitals. These three branches of medicine have their own faculties associated with the college, as does Accident and Emergency Medicine where the practice is in the hospital environment.
The college has joined with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow to form the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. This body exists to provide the formal authority for certain joint activities, such as the organisation of the MRCP(UK) examination.
