Australian Defence Selects Cardiff's XML and Adobe® PDF eForm Solutions

Defence will implement paperless survey forms throughout the enterprise

San Diego - 2001-05-29 - Cardiff Software Inc., a leader in XML-based eBusiness automation solutions, today announced that the Australian Department of Defence has selected Cardiff's standards-based eForm products to put survey activities and processes online. Personnel of the Australian Department of Defence will use the Cardiff eForm products in a system that will be implemented by CAYLX Software, a Cardiff distributor in Sydney, Australia.

Cardiff's eForm products have been developed through an "eForm Alliance" with Adobe Systems (NADSAQ: ADBE), and leverage XML and Adobe portable document format (PDF) standards to deliver "same-as-paper" eForms using standard Web browsers. Survey forms can be saved and routed to the survey administrator, with the data automatically verified and processed by the Cardiff system.

"The Adobe-Cardiff eForm Alliance offers the department significant advantages," said Justine Greig, director of strategic personnel planning and research for the Australian Department of Defence. "An open-systems solution is more appropriate to deploy and maintain and by eliminating proprietary fillers we obtain better value for money. Additionally, by using the Adobe PDF standard for survey form presentation, our design and publishing efforts are portable and can be migrated to other systems in the future."

Adobe and Cardiff announced an expansion to their eForm Alliance on March 12, 2001, providing public and private organizations with an open-systems approach to online and paperless forms. The companies also introduced the LiquidForms eForm Management System, a turnkey solution for using, tracking, routing, and approving online forms using standard Web browsers.
