Autonomy Announces New Wins In The Publishing Sector
New Signings Grow Number of Publishing Customers
Autonomy Corporation plc (Nasdaq: AUTN; LSE: AU.; Europe Nasdaq: AUTN), a global leader in infrastructure software for the Web and the enterprise, today announced three customer wins in the publishing sector for the first quarter, including Aviation Week's AviationNow.com, Northcliffe Newspaper Group and HdPnet, the new media company of HdP group.
AviationNow.com, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, is the most comprehensive real-time news, professional information and e-business portal in the aviation and aerospace industry. AviationNow.com leverages Aviation Week's long-standing leadership as the world's premiere multimedia information and service provider to the aviation and aerospace market to fuel this vital new business-to-business resource. Autonomy's technology enables AviationNow.com to aggregate HTML and XML data, retrieve relevant information and automate hypertext linking to automatically deliver personalized in-depth coverage of the aviation industry.
Northcliffe Electronic Publishing Ltd is the online publishing division of Northcliffe Newspapers - one of the largest publisher of regional daily newspapers in the UK. Northcliffe has selected Autonomy to further enhance its 'This Is...' regional community portals. Autonomy's solution enables visitors to the portal to intuitively navigate their way around by automatically prompting news and stories, which are similar or relevant to the one they are reading.
Owen Davies, NorthCliffe's Managing Director, said; "Our community portals aim to provide relevant news and sports content in the regional areas covered by Northcliffe. We chose the Autonomy product to make our sites a more rewarding and fulfilling experience for the reader."
HdPnet has selected Autonomy's Commerce Application Builder to enrich and automate front-end customer interaction and back-end content management. HdPnet will draw content and products from HdP's media and consumer goods brands, which includes RCS, the foremost Italian publishing group and Italy's biggest-selling dailies, Corriere della Sera and La Gazzetta dello Sport, as well as magazines such as Elle and Amica and clothing and footwear company Fila. Following the launch of the Italian site, HdPnet will roll out the system across multiple other European languages and territories.
Dr. Mike Lynch, founder and CEO of Autonomy, commented, "With content as their currency, publishing companies understand the vital need to efficiently process the growing amount of unstructured information. It is too costly and time consuming for companies in any industry to dedicate valuable resources to manually processing information. The publishing sector is yet another vertical market to recognise Autonomy's technology as essential to the efficient use of business information."
