Virage Extends SmartEncode™ Capabilities for Video Application Platform
Audio User-Interface Support for Foreign Languages Now Available Third Party Plug-Ins Extend Virage SmartEncode Capabilities
NAB 2001 CONVENTION, Las Vegas, NV- April 23, 2001 - Virage, Inc. [Nasdaq: VRGE], a leading provider of software and services that enable video for strategic online applications, today demonstrated new enhancements to the SmartEncode™ process, extending the International reach of the Virage Video Application Platform and adding features to its existing capabilities. Over 200 customers already rely on the SmartEncode process for digital video management and extensive applications of their content.
Virage announced the availability of Spanish, Italian, German, UK English, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese Audio Recognition plug-ins for the award-winning Virage VideoLogger®. The new language capability will allow additional foreign customers to adapt the industry leading Virage platform into their existing infrastructure for more effective online video applications. In addition, Virage introduced Localized versions of the VideoLogger user-interface for Japan and Germany. For the first time, users can operate the VideoLogger with a fully localized user-interface in these languages.

Virage also announced that several companies are developing and demonstrating plug-ins for the SmartEncode product line. Software companies who have recently extended Virage's open platform through plug-ins include Cobion, FastTalk, Vela and X-Art.
