Virage Partners with EMC to Integrate Technologies for Rich-Media

SAN MATEO, Calif. - April 23, 2001 - Virage, Inc. [Nasdaq: VRGE], a leading provider of software and services that enable video for strategic online applications, today announced that EMC Corporation [NYSE: EMC] plans to integrate the Virage platform into EMC's information storage systems and media asset management software. Based on the Virage SmartEncode™ process and Virage Video Application Server™, the Virage platform transforms video into a structured database that provides granular access into video content and readies it for strategic online applications. The Virage and EMC interoperability will allow enterprises to easily and efficiently manage, store and distribute their content to maximize the value of their digital video assets.
