Verity to Power Customer and Enterprise Sites For Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company
Pioneer and Market Leader of the Dedicated Semiconductor Foundry Industry Chooses Verity to Improve Online Site for Chip Component Suppliers and Enterprise Portal Users
SUNNYVALE, CA. - 2001-04-09 - Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of infrastructure software that powers enterprise and e-commerce portals as well as e-business applications, today announced that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's leading semiconductor foundry, has selected Verity's award-winning business portal infrastructure software to power both its chip component supplier extranet, TSMC-Online 3.0, and its enterprise portal site. TSMC chose Verity® K2 Toolkit for its scalability, performance, and Asian language support for TSMC's corporate portal. Verity® Locales enables customers to index, categorize and search corporate documents and Web content created in 24 languages.
Verity K2 Toolkit interfaces with business portal software to help users accurately search hundreds of millions of unstructured documents almost instantaneously. TSMC-Online 3.0 allows TSMC customers to monitor and control semiconductor design orders through a Web-based interface. Through Verity K2 Toolkit, TSMC's extranet can now index and search technical documentation accrued throughout the design collaboration, engineering and production processes.
"The Verity K2 Toolkit will enable our customers to search through TSMC Online quickly and easily. Users of TSMC Online will now have access to consistent and timely technology information," said Andy Shen, Director of the eCommerce Division, TSMC. "This technology will also be used by our employees to search and consolidate important business content through our Knowledge Network intranet. The two implementations of the Verity K2 Toolkit will greatly improve the work efficiency of our users and enable them to deliver high-quality products."
For the Knowledge Network, TSMC's corporate portal offering for employees, Verity K2 Toolkit will deliver high-performance index, search, retrieval and view functionality for over 200 structured and unstructured documents formats - including HTML, PDF and ACSII. Fault-tolerant operations and unlimited scalability mean that Verity K2 Toolkit will also minimize server failure disruptions and keep pace with TSMC's personnel growth. Verity Locales enables identical functionality for TSMC's English- and Chinese-speaking operations.
"TSMC has advanced the concept of a ‘virtual fabrication' to new levels by providing the ability to select the exact production information that suppliers and customers need to monitor wafers in both engineering and mass production stages," said Anthony Bettencourt, President of Verity. "We are honored that TSMC chose the Verity K2 Toolkit and Verity Locales to power both its Online 3.0 extranet as well as TSMC's corporate portal site. Verity is committed to helping our clients develop portals and e-commerce initiatives at the global enterprise level."
