Cardiff LiquidFormsTM eForm Management System Gains ëBest of Show' Finalist Award At Internet World Spring 2001
LiquidForms allows organizations to route, approve, submit and sign online forms; XML-based system is a turnkey eForm solution for eBusiness and eGovernment
San Diego - 2001-03-19 - Cardiff Software, Inc., a leader in XML-based eBusiness automation solutions, today announced that judges at the prestigious Internet World Spring 2001 have selected the LiquidForms eForm Management System as a "Best of Show" award finalist. LiquidForms works with Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0 software and other standard HTML Web clients to deliver a paperless forms automation solution without the use of proprietary plug-ins or Java™ filler applets.
"This award is the perfect capstone to this week's introduction of LiquidForms and Adobe Acrobat 5.0 as an eForm automation solution," said Dennis Clerke, co-founder, president and CEO of Cardiff. "The response to LiquidForms from corporate, academic and government organizations has been phenomenal, and major press and analyst organizations have also been enthusiastic to our new approach to the paperless office."
Cardiff's LiquidForms eForm Management System leverages Adobe Acrobat 5.0 software to deliver form-filling capabilities to its clients. Adobe Acrobat and Adobe PDF overcome limitations found in HTML forms, including support for digital signatures, local form save with data, email submission and precise printing. Adobe Acrobat 5.0 also enables LiquidForms to support speaking forms, Braille connectivity and other features called out in U.S. Federal Section 508 Accessibility guidelines.
"The combination of Adobe Acrobat, Adobe PDF and Cardiff LiquidForms has the opportunity to set the standard for paperless forms within public- and private-sector organizations," said David Rodrigues, senior product manager for eForms for the Adobe ePaper Solutions Group. "This award reinforces the Adobe-Cardiff belief that a standards-based approach to eForms will accelerate adoption of automated paperless systems."
Technology Shift to XML and n-Tier eForms
LiquidForms represents a technology shift in the eForm automation product segment. Where historical client-server eForm approaches rely upon a proprietary form design format, LiquidForms uses XML, Adobe PDF and HTML standards. Where client-server products require proprietary plug-ins and Java filler applets for form presentation, LiquidForms uses universally accepted Web clients for form fill and routing: Microsoft® Internet Explorer™, Netscape Navigator™ and Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat ReaderTM. And where historical products have wrapped their legacy products with a proprietary flavor of XML, Cardiff has leveraged its role as a technical editor for the XForms Specification for the World Wide Web Consortium into LiquidForms.
In an announcement made last week, Adobe Systems (NASDAQ: ADBE) revealed an eForm Alliance with Cardiff, and that the LiquidForms Designer Trial Edition will be included with English versions of Adobe Acrobat 5.0 for Microsoft Windows. A free download of the LiquidForms Designer Trial Edition (TE) is available now at www.Cardiff.com/LiquidForms.
