Patricia Seybold Group, Delphi Group and Verity Cross the Continent to Discuss Business Portals

Interactive Sessions to Explain "Whys" and "Hows" of Corporate and E-Commerce Portals

Sunnyvale, CA - 2001-03-05 - Verity (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of infrastructure software that powers enterprise and e-commerce portals as well as e-business applications, today announced that the Patricia Seybold Group, a worldwide consulting and research firm specializing in e-business strategies and customer-facing solutions, and the Delphi Group, a leading provider of strategic advisory services for e-business, will join it on a four-week tour of 12 North American cities to explain "The Essential Elements of a Business Portal". Leading analysts from both firms and senior executives of Verity will address the crucial issues facing the design and deployment of business portals. The tour begins Tuesday, March 13, in Toronto, Canada.

On each stop of the 12-city tour, half the day will be devoted to each topic area. Geoffrey Bock and Martha Frey, from the Patricia Seybold Group, will deliver a keynote address on "The Customer Experience Imperative: The Role of Discovery in the Customer Revolution," during the e-business segment. Hadley Reynolds and Carl Frappaolo, from the Delphi Group, will speak on "Business Portals, A Framework for the Extended Value Chain" during the business portal segment. In each program segment, an interactive discussion will explore a range of portal-related topics, including search, personalization and intelligent classification of data.

"The business portal market is growing at an unprecedented rate. As more and more companies are seeking to create effective interactive experiences, we think it is necessary to focus on the role of discovery within the customer revolution. We hope to equip companies with the essential knowledge to identify the challenges and opportunities in the business portal market," said Geoffrey Bock, senior consultant and analyst of Patricia Seybold Group.

"The terms of engagement in the business portal space is changing dramatically in 2001, as the number of organizations deploying portal projects is nearly doubling. The Verity sessions will provide a valuable forum for e-Business managers to get first hand exposure both to the latest thinking on the role of business portals and to the characteristics of today's technology that are key to building an intelligent portal environment," said Hadley Reynolds, director of research at Delphi Group, Boston, MA.

"A well-structured portal with a superior infrastructure will boost the efficiency of information flow within and between organizations and thus increase the productivity and revenue," says Mike Zuckerman, vice president of marketing for Verity. "Unfortunately, many companies lack the knowledge and experience to build a good portal. Verity is glad to be able to partner with the Patricia Seybold Group and the Delphi Group to inform those people who truly need to know about the essentials of portals."
