Leading Edge Partners with Virage to Integrate Video into Complete Information Management and Delivery Systems
Hanover, Maryland - February 19, 2001 - Leading Edge Design & Systems (LEDS), a full-service provider of end-to-end digital information management and exploitation (DIME™) systems, recently entered into an agreement with its partner, Virage, Inc. [Nasdaq: VRGE] to resell components of the powerful Virage Video Application Platform. A key element of the technology enables video to be searched by face, voice, and text, just as Internet web pages are currently searched by text alone. Virage-powered video means that what once was just raw content can now be turned into usable data and re-purposed into new services and information solutions.
LEDS incorporates the various components of this powerful platform in a number of its total solutions. One of these is its highly effective PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY solution. This system helps reduce crime and increase security by monitoring and tracking public areas for criminals and potential criminal activity and automatically alerting law enforcement of threatening situations. Another one is the Company's BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE solution, a data mining and information tracking application for corporate and government clients. This system monitors information from a broad range of sources, including television broadcasts and the Internet, to deliver reports of critical activities and other competitive data that helps clients make better business decisions and set more effective strategies.
This partnership is a significant move that will complement the total solutions LEDS provides to its customers by adding a complete array of products that enable video for strategic online applications. The problem that LEDS addresses is how customers can manage their digital information and use it more effectively. The solution is to create efficient and secure systems that track and deliver data on as broad a basis as the entire enterprise or as narrow as a single-user.
