Cardiff Enables Custom Form Merge Applications For E-mail, Fax and Print With New AutoMerge Publisher SDK
AutoMerge Publisher v1.1 allows developers to incorporate personalized eForm and eReply capabilities to in-house and commercial applications
San Diego - 2001-02-13 - Cardiff Software, Inc., a leading supplier of forms processing and business automation solutions, today announced the immediate availability of AutoMerge Publisher™ v1.1. The new upgrade enhances the popular form merge application with the addition of a software developer kit (SDK), providing developers with the ability to add personalized form merge capabilities to Web forms and database applications, as well as for in-house and commercial applications.
The new release includes sample code for the SDK that provides examples of how to create and customize applications using AutoMerge Publisher. In addition, AutoMerge Publisher has improved and expanded printed documentation, as well as robust online help resources.
Organizations such as the United Way of Roanoke Valley use Cardiff's AutoMerge Publisher because it improves responsiveness by merging incoming or existing database information with outgoing form templates automatically.

AutoMerge Publisher works with Cardiff's market-leading TELEform® Information Capture platform to automate the creation of personalized pre-filled forms and response pages. By combining variable text, graphics and barcodes with form templates, users can implement form merge applications that are delivered in volume using e-mail, Adobe® PDF, fax or print services. Variable data can be populated from existing or dynamic data sources, including Web forms, XML and ODBC databases.
"Form merge is a powerful tool that can shave weeks off of a survey or questionnaire project," said Emily Deere, director of product management for Cardiff. By providing an SDK to AutoMerge Publisher, we expose the full power of the product to the Web and application developer community."
The addition of the SDK allows developers to interface with AutoMerge Publisher's powerful features using popular programming languages, including Java, C++ and Visual Basic. Applications include the batch creation and delivery of partially pre-filled survey and questionnaire forms, where name and contact information is merged, leaving the recipient to complete unanswered questions on the form. If an e-mail delivery option is selected, AutoMerge Publisher will create a subject and e-mail body text that is personalized for each recipient. A personalized Adobe PDF form will be attached, and the e-mail sent instantly.
Another application is the creation and delivery of personalized eReply documents, which use Adobe PDF to deliver the visual impact of paper with the speed of e-mail. By merging variable information onto a template for certificates, coupons and confirmations, AutoMerge Publisher can be used to instantly send response documents to online tests, special offers, and registration/applications. AutoMerge Publisher v1.1 is available immediately from Cardiff and its worldwide network of integrators, distributors and resellers. The product is available for 32-bit Windows systems for $5,000 per system. Cardiff TELEform v7.0 is also required.
