Broadbase Software, BroadVision, Interwoven and Verity Create State-of-the-Art Portal for the State of California

Leading e-Business Vendors and Deloitte Consulting Join to Create my.ca.gov, a One-stop Online Link to California

SACRAMENTO, CA - 2001-01-09 - Broadbase Software (NASDAQ: BBSW), BroadVision, Inc. (NASDAQ: BVSN), Interwoven (NASDAQ: IWOV) and Verity, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY) today announced that they have come together, along with Deloitte Consulting, to create a dynamic new one-stop California Web Portal, my.ca.gov. This revolutionary government portal will offer Californians a single access point for all state government information and services.

Delivering on his "eGovernment" initiative designed to use the power of technology to bring state government closer to California individuals and businesses, California Governor Gray Davis, who introduced the Web Portal to the citizens of California during his State of the State address yesterday evening, today unveiled my.ca.gov at the California State House.

With cutting-edge e-Business technology from Broadbase Software, BroadVision, Interwoven and Verity -- integrated by Deloitte Consulting -- my.ca.gov will make it possible for constituents and visitors to access pertinent information quickly and easily from virtually every California State Department including: CalTrans, Consumer Affairs, Department of Motor Vehicles, Franchise Tax Board, Fish & Game, Health & Human Services, Housing, Parks & Recreation and Social Services. My California also allows Californians to personalize the portal for quickest access to those departments and agencies they contact most while ensuring their privacy. The new portal also provides powerful search functions to speed up and simplify access to state services and information.

"Today, with the launch of our new My California homepage, we are using web technology to personalize government in a way no other state has ever done," Governor Davis said. "With advice from the best minds in the Silicon Valley, we have developed an Internet site that makes it simple to register cars, check up on schools' academic performance, get live pictures of our state parks, and much more. Our seamless, state-of-the-art web portal, my.ca.gov is your online link to California."

Based on BroadVision's eBusiness portal and personalization software, my.ca.gov leverages Interwoven's enterprise-class content management software, as well as intelligent eCRM offerings from Broadbase Software and the industry-leading knowledge retrieval technology from Verity to create an easy-to-use portal for all citizens of California.

Broadbase Software is enabling the State of California to provide its citizens with intelligent customer interactions through its leading eCRM applications. By leveraging Broadbase's marketing and analytic software the State of California can analyze visitor data (while ensuring individuals privacy) and use the information to continuously update, improve and refresh the portal content according to the citizens requirements and desires. Broadbase's eCRM technology is empowering the State of California to attract and retain citizens to its one of a kind, interactive eGovernment portal by better understanding citizens behavior on the web and gaining valuable insight into their likes and dislikes.

"Governor Davis' foresight and vision into leveraging industry-defining technology to better serve and interact with the citizens of California is evident with the successful launch of my.ca.gov -- the most responsive, intuitive government portal today, said Chuck Bay, president and CEO of Broadbase Software. "We are ecstatic that Broadbase's intelligent customer interaction software is playing a leading role in dramatically improving relationships between the California state government and its citizens."

BroadVision One-To-One® Enterprise is the foundation for my.ca.gov, providing a stable, flexible and scalable platform for market-leading e-business solutions. BroadVision InfoExchange Portal(tm) software powers the portal and ties together information from every California State

Department, giving users easy, personalized, "self-service" access to State of California information and services.

"This is the first state government web site that truly addresses the needs of the people," said Ken Powell, Chief Marketing Officer for BroadVision, Inc. "The State of California is leading the way in cost-saving e-government initiatives by giving residents anytime, self-service access to

such a vast array of government agencies."

Interwoven's flagship enterprise-class content management software, TeamSite, will enable all content contributors to create and manage new content and publish it to the Governor's portal without HTML knowledge. TeamSite Templating, a TeamSite module, separates form from content, making it easy for content to be entered, tagged with metadata and repurposed for multiple sites. TeamSite virtualization, a capability that allows all contributors to work within their own private "virtual" version of the entire Web site, will allow the Governor's portal's contributors to QA their own work in context relative to the actual site. Contributors will then be able to reduce the time involved in contributing content without sacrificing the integrity of standard navigation, look and feel.

"California is leading state governments with my.ca.gov. No other state offers the same amount of operability and convenience while linking as many government agencies as the Governor's portal" said Martin Brauns, president and CEO of Interwoven. "Interwoven TeamSite offers my.ca.gov content contributors unparalleled easy content entry across state agencies which leads to an enjoyable Web experience for California's and other site visitors."

My.ca.gov will leverage high performance knowledge retrieval technology from Verity, Inc., a leading provider of infrastructure software that powers enterprise and e-commerce portals as well as e-business applications. Verity K2 Toolkit will deliver advanced search, navigation, and viewing capability to my.ca.gov. Verity K2 Toolkit provides scalability, flexibility, accuracy, and functionality that will help California citizens navigate large volumes of information on the new portal website quickly and accurately.

"California has designed a ‘state-of-the-art' technology which provides its citizens with quick and easy access to all government information," said Anthony J. Bettencourt, president of Verity. "Now, citizens can interact with the state government in ways that were not possible before - from getting a camping permit or fishing license to applying for food stamps or paying taxes - all online. The new portal enables people to quickly and easily navigate information and services from a multitude of agencies and departments to find what they're looking for. We're honored that, under our agreement with the state, we are contributing our industry-leading technology as a key component of the portal offering for California citizens."
