Joint Solution to Enhance Delivery and Management
of Rich Media on Enterprise Networks
STREAMING MEDIA WEST 2000, SAN JOSE, Calif. - December 12, 2000 - Virage, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRGE), a leading provider of software products and application services that enable video for the Internet and CacheFlow® Inc. (NASDAQ: CFLO), the leading provider of content-smart networking solutions, today announced a partnership for high-performance delivery of streaming services to the enterprise. The Virage-CacheFlow solution will provide enterprises with a cost-effective and feature-rich way to publish, manage, access and distribute rich media on their intranets or extranets. The joint combination will ensure a high-quality end-user experience by delivering Virage-enabled video content directly from the edges of the enterprise network with CacheFlow appliances. In addition, Virage will join CacheFlow's Adaptive Content Exchange (ACE) Partner Alliance.
As a result of the alliance, customers can use CacheFlow Content Accelerators together with Virage's SmartEncode™ process and Video Application Platform to scale high-quality streaming services from the origin server to the network edge. By enabling enterprises to easily extend the reach of streaming media to the regional office, the joint solution makes it cost-effective to deliver streaming media for internal and external communications, including sales and marketing, training, education, customer and partner information.
"Virage is pleased to be working closely with CacheFlow to create an end-to-end solution for managing and distributing video in the enterprise environment," said Carlos Montalvo, chief marketing officer at Virage. "The combination of the Virage Video Application Platform and CacheFlow's streaming-enabled caching solutions addresses the major economic and technical challenges faced by corporations using streaming media today: reducing bandwidth costs, allowing efficient access and distribution of video and ensuring a high-quality user experience."
"Combining CacheFlow's distributed networking devices with Virage's video content management and publishing solutions provides corporations with a complete solution for easily scaling streaming content delivery," said Patrick Harr, VP of marketing at CacheFlow. "Delivering rich media to the network edge requires a new platform that can effectively manage distributed content as well as cost-effectively scale to meet constantly increasing demand."
Virage provides owners of video content with the end-to-end solution for publishing, managing and distributing their video assets over the Internet or corporate intranets. Virage's integrated, scalable solution converts video into a web-ready medium that maximizes online communication efficiencies and business opportunities. The Virage Video Application Platform delivers cost savings and increased productivity to enterprises by transforming their valuable video assets into easily distributed, on-demand content that enhances corporate communications, decision support and training.
CacheFlow's market-leading appliances and innovative content delivery technologies dramatically improve the speed and efficiency of moving digital content.
