Verity finds the pearls of wisdom for users of myOyster.com

SUNNYVALE, CA - 2000-10-25 - Verity, the company powering business portals, announces that BNB Resources plc, the human resource solution specialist, has selected portal infrastructure technology from Verity for its myOyster.com online recruitment site. Named Antenna , the high powered search application was built using the Verity K2 Toolkit, the Verity Developer's Toolkit and Verity Profiler. It will enable BNB to quickly and easily match available job vacancies with candidates fitting the tailored skills and competencies specified by its clients and allow candidates to search for jobs that closely meet their aspirations.

BNB chose Verity technology because of its ability to accurately classify vast amounts of information and provide high speed matching between vacancies and candidates. Using a highly developed search system, the application filters and ranks the retrieved knowledge in a hierarchical way which enables the user to see immediately the most relevant outcome of the search. myOyster.com's main criteria for selecting the Verity application were that; it guarantees the confidentiality that is expected by all users; it will help ensure that the right candidates are placed in the right jobs; it facilitates the best classification, search and match solution.

"We have the concept of the on-line Headhunter. With the aid of Verity's software we hope to do 80% of what a Headhunter does in matching candidates to jobs on-line and achieve a significant share of the online recruitment market," says Phil Bustin, group technology director at BNB. "We chose Verity because of its ability to deal with retrieved and derived data, query by example and relevancy ranked results."

The implementation of Verity's technology marks a shift in BNB's business model. With accelerating globalisation in the recruitment market and the increase in use of the Internet in this sector, BNB felt that it was necessary to develop its online services. To do this it needed a technically robust high end solution.

"BNB has recognised the importance that the Internet will play in the recruitment sector," says Simon Atkinson, MD of Verity. "Opportunities exist online that would not normally be available through traditional channels. However, BNB has also realised that, in order to offer the most accurate, secure, and personalised recruitment services to clients, information needs to be carefully managed. By selecting Verity, myOyster.com is leading the way for successful online recruitment."
