BAX Global Selects Cardiff TELEform As Worldwide Standard For Automated Airbill Processing
Cardiff eTransaction Solutions selected for ease-of-use, performance and distributed capture capabilities
San Diego - 2000-09-26 - BAX Global, a subsidiary of The Pittston Company (NYSE: PZB) and Cardiff Software, Inc. announced today that BAX Global has selected Cardiff TELEform as its worldwide solution to automate the collection and processing of shipping data. TELEform will allow BAX to speed the processing of paperwork related to shipments, and will result in improved responsiveness to customer inquiries.
Prior to the selection of Cardiff TELEform, BAX identified bottlenecks common in the transportation industry. First, data entry operators commonly entered information from shipping forms manually, a slow process that added to administrative costs. Second, information manually keyed was subject to entry errors. Third, the lack of a centralized data processing system had a negative impact on customer service, as data was not readily available.
To improve operating efficiency, BAX had outlined specific goals that had to be met in an online automated solution: 1) Support distributed capture from remote offices; 2) Reduce manual data entry costs; 3) Increase data accuracy; and 4) Reduce response time to respond to customer inquiries. BAX evaluated and analyzed solutions from Cardiff and other vendors, subjecting each product and organization to a formal selection process. In the end BAX Global chose Cardiff for their superior OCR, for ease of implementation, having fastest error correction and having the most robust network reporting capabilities. Additionally, Cardiff demonstrated the strongest capabilities regarding their implementation schedule and support program.
"The fact that we were selecting a global standard that would be responsible for data that is core to our company, we implemented a very robust selection process," said Mark Fisher, Manager of Imaging Operations for BAX Global. "The eBusiness features, capabilities and support that Cardiff offered were the smart solution to our shipping and customer service objectives."
BAX anticipates that TELEform will speed up the data collection process for over 15,000 airbills per day while reducing their manual data entry for airbill indexing by 95%. BAX will reduce the number of man hours required for data processing.
Traditionally airbills were manually entered nightly which resulted in a full day's delay in providing shipping information to their customers. With the Cardiff solution, airbills will be sent from remote offices to a regional processing center using 90 Hewlett Packard Digital Senders. TELEform will collect incoming forms and automatically convert them into digital information. Data will be verified and scrubbed as needed, and then processed to database and Back Office applications. Copies of processed forms will be processed into FileNET Panagon via TELEform Connect Agent technology.
