Rubus manages knowledge with Verity

SUNNYVALE, CA. - 2000-09-21 - Rubus, a fast-growing European e-business consultancy, announces that it has selected Verity as part of an overall £500,000 investment in knowledge management. As a premier partner of Verity, Rubus has integrated Verity technology on a number of major client sites, including Thomascook.com, and has now chosen Verity as the supporting technology for its internal company-wide knowledge management system.

Rubus is using a full suite of Verity portal products and is preparing to install Verity Portal One, a comprehensive, integrated solution that includes the essential technology capabilities for a complete business portal. Verity Portal One capabilities include personalisation; search, navigate, and view capabilities; unified access to multiple information sources; intelligent classification of information; and security, scalability, and reliability.

The Verity solution will enable employees to access enterprise information from wherever they are, no matter where it is stored or in what format. Rubus has implemented the new system to support the company as employee numbers and office locations increase. This system will enable knowledge-sharing throughout the organisation, helping Rubus to re-apply its existing expertise and experience to provide higher value consultancy for its clients.

"Verity's technology will enable our employees to find information quickly and easily," says Malcolm Wolf, chief consulting officer at Rubus. "Relevant information will be delivered direct to users' desktops every morning and project teams will be able to share knowledge and to collaborate more easily. Knowledge is key to the success of our business and enhancing our solution delivery capability for clients. The Verity suite of technologies will help us to achieve this goal."

Simon Atkinson, managing director of Verity UK, comments, "Knowledge is the basis of any consulting firm and access to up-to-date and accurate information is crucial. Rubus has recognised how important it is to keep track of information during periods of rapid growth and change. Our technology will help them to drive their business forward."

The fully scalable Verity solution will allow Rubus to automatically index, search and retrieve information on Web and file servers distributed across the company. It will also provide Rubus with an easy and efficient way to classify and organise its corporate knowledge. Information will be presented to users in a categorised format, which will allow them to navigate information directories quickly through a combination of searching and browsing.

Verity is also helping Rubus to implement a personalised information delivery system throughout the organisation. The solution will monitor information sources across Rubus' network and automatically filter and deliver highly personalised information to individuals and groups, based on their content and delivery preferences. Verity's technology will search, index and send alerts to individuals from internal and external information sources such as news feeds and websites.
