First Pan-European Consumer Feed-Back Portal Chooses Autonomy

Automatic hyperlinking and personalisation of product reviews empower consumers to buy more wisely

Autonomy Corporation plc, Europe's leading developer of infrastructure software for the Web, today announced that its technology has been adopted in Germany, France, Italy and the UK to power Dooyoo, a pan-European "decision portal" driven by consumer reviews and designed to help users benefit from other online shoppers' opinions on products ranging from DVD machines to perfumes.

Autonomy will enable Dooyoo to automatically link related reviews and products together, as well as dynamically personalising information to users' interests based on the site content they are reading. In this way, users benefit from the experiences of others in the Dooyoo community. Once an appropriate product has been found, it can then be purchased online.

The German version of Dooyoo alone gives users access to over 175 online shops offering over 600,000 products, and already has over 300,000 registered users.

Dr. Mike Lynch, founder and Group CEO of Autonomy Corporation, commented: "Online shoppers need relevant, informative, personalised product information, and they need it delivered to them automatically. Using Autonomy, Dooyoo has taken these customer-centred approaches to new heights. We are delighted that Dooyoo has decided to differentiate its online offering using Autonomy."

At the heart of Autonomy's software is a pattern recognition technology, which has the ability to analyse a piece of text (such as a product description or consumer report) and identify the main ideas. This enables the software to then determine how the text should be categorised, who should see it, what other relevant material it should be linked to, and how it should be tagged automatically.

Dooyoo's CTO, Carl-Marcus Rudert, explained further: "Autonomy recognises patterns in text and can operate on that information in a context-sensitive manner. For this reason, Autonomy complements the richness of content on our site in an ideal way. Our users' path to the right buying decision is now even swifter than before."

About Dooyoo

Dooyoo AG is a pan-European Internet company headquartered in Berlin. It was founded in October 1999 by Felix Frohn-Bernau (CEO), Boris Wasmuth (Marketing), Carl-Marcus Rudert (CTO), Rene Kaute (PR and Marketing), Michael Kalkowski (COO) and Alexander Wit (International Operations). Dooyoo's CFO is Rene Griemens. Dooyoo has a total of 170 staff in Berlin, London, Paris, Madrid and Rome. The company offers a platform for consumers, run by consumers.

Dooyoo's tips on products, services, and online shops enable its 300,000 registered users to benefit from buying advice - impartially and free of charge. The user can then also purchase the product or service through the site. In this way, Dooyoo brings all the elements of the buying process together in one space. Currently, Dooyoo covers training courses, cars, computers, electronic goods, media, travel, sport and more. The categories are constantly being expanded.

About Autonomy Corporation plc

Autonomy's technology powers large-scale, personalised systems for the Enterprise, Internet and other Digital domains. Because of its ability to analyse any piece of text (independent of the document's language) and identify and rank the main ideas, Autonomy can automate a broad range of otherwise labour intensive tasks. These range from categorising information by subject matter, to inserting hypertext links to related material, to profiling users based on the ideas in the text they read or write, to delivering information to those most likely to be interested.

Autonomy (EASDAQ/NASDAQ: AUTN) was founded in 1996 and has offices in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, New York, and Washington, D.C. in the United States, as well as offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Cambridge, England, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Oslo and Sydney.

Among its 200-plus customers are Alcatel, Associated Press, Barclays Bank, British Aerospace, Clorox, News Corp., Lucent Technologies, Merrill Lynch, SF Gate, Reuters Semi-tech, The Royal Mail, Unilever, and the United States Department of Defense.
