Leading European Broadcast Integrators Select Virage Video Application Platform

New UK, German, and French Partnerships Significantly Enhance Video Asset Management Solutions for Broadcasters Across Europe

IBC 2000 CONFERENCE, AMSTERDAM - September 9, 2000 - Virage announced today that it has both forged and strengthened strategic alliances with a number of European broadcast specialists including ITC Network Consultants in the UK, Medialogixx in Germany and Dalet Digital Media Systems in France. These partnerships will ensure that Virage video technology, including the Virage SmartEncode™ process, is incorporated as a de-facto standard into video asset management solutions for broadcasters across Europe.

As the leading provider of applications and software for publishing, managing and distributing video on the Internet, Virage will work with its partners to help broadcasters successfully exploit and manage their video content. By updating their customer's media asset management systems, Virage's partners will be providing far greater accessibility and analytical capability for video content than was previously available. Integral to this process will be Virage's VideoLogger™ as the core video indexing application.

Mark Rattley, Vice President of Virage Europe, commented: "Our partners are at the forefront of networking technology for broadcasters. Broadcasters need video material 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With the volume of a broadcaster's media assets expanding at an exponential rate, the need to readily locate and easily manage video material has become paramount. Through their partnerships with Virage, companies such as ITC, Medialogixx and Dalet are now able to provide the technological infrastructure that enables broadcasters to make best use of their valuable video assets."

Tom Millar, Managing Director of ITC said: "Virage has best-of-breed products in managing and publishing video using the Web. Our customers have recognised that with the help of Virage's applications they can get faster and better access to their video assets."

Jochen Milch, Managing Director of Medialogixx, said: "The partnership with Virage will enable us to offer our customers a more comprehensive media management service. Virage is recognised as the leading provider of video indexing technology. This software provides visual storyboard images and extensive content information. With these technologies Medialogixx will be able to provide total media management solutions that make video content instantly and easily retrievable."

David Lasry, CEO of Dalet, added: "The addition of Virage video technology into Dalet's applications allows us to offer an integrated multimedia content production and management system. The combination of our world-renowned digital audio systems, together with Virage's video capabilities creates a solution that can handle an incredible range of multimedia broadcasting requirements."
