Virage Announces Streaming Media Agreement with Intel Internet Media Services
SAN MATEO, California - August 30, 2000 - Virage, Inc. [NASDAQ: VRGE], a leading provider of software products and application services
that enable video for the Internet, today announced that Intel® Internet Media Services will integrate and resell Virage-branded application services. Intel
Internet Media Services will incorporate Virage's SmartEncode™ process, and video publishing and syndication services into its global streaming media distribution
network.
Also as part of the agreement, Virage has agreed to provide its customers with Intel Internet Media Services' streaming services. Internet Media Services is a global digital network designed from the ground up expressly to stream audio and video. The network will be built around digital broadcast operations centers that feature Intel's network intelligence technology.
Virage's application platform supports large-scale deployment of streaming video and is currently used by more than 150 customers across media & entertainment and enterprise markets. Virage's Internet video solutions, including the Virage SmartEncode process for simultaneous encoding and indexing, editorial services, and application hosting, are cross-platform, integration-ready, and production-proven.
