Verity Inc. Names Richard Motyka as Vice President of Engineering, Verity Canada Ltd

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2000-08-22 - Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of infrastructure software that powers enterprise and e-commerce portals as well as e-business applications, today announced the appointment of Richard Motyka as vice president of engineering, Verity Canada Ltd. Motyka, who joined Verity Canada, a subsidiary of Verity, Inc. in 1997 through Verity's acquisition of FTP Software Canada, most recently served as its director of engineering. In his new position, Motyka continues to report to Dr. Ashok K. Chandra, senior vice president of development and new business activities, and is responsible for managing Verity Canada's engineering operations and strategic project planning.

"Richard has played an instrumental role in providing cohesive leadership to the Verity engineering team," said Chandra. "We are grateful to have such an outstanding individual to help drive the continued success of Verity's product lines. Richard's new appointment also emphasizes the increasing strategic importance of Verity's engineering team in Calgary."

Motyka joined Keyword Office Technology in 1992. He held the position of senior architect in 1995 when Keyword was acquired by FTP Software Canada. FTP Software Canada was subsequently acquired by Verity in 1997. Shortly after joining Verity, Motyka was appointed as director of engineering for Verity Canada. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
