Verity Honored with Awards from Two Industry-Leading Technology Publications
Verity Named a Winner of SOFTWARE MAGAZINE?s "Software 500" and the Inter@ctive Week Fast 50
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2000-06-28 - Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of infrastructure software that powers enterprise and e-commerce portals as well as e-business applications, today announced it has been honored with two awards from industry-leading publications. Verity was named a winner in Software Magazine's 18th Annual Software 500 rankings. The company also ranked as one of the fastest growing companies in Inter@ctive Week's Fast 50, reflecting Verity's revenue growth, operating income growth, one-year total return to stockholders, and market capitalization. Verity's suite of products power corporate portals used for internal sharing of mission critical information, e-commerce portals used for online selling and market exchange portals for B2B activities.
"Ever-increasing R&D-spending by the Software 500 companies is fueling the Internet economy," says John Desmond, Software Magazine's editorial director. "The CIOs, senior IT and e-business managers who read Software Magazine value this unique issue as a yearly benchmark of the standing of their product and service partners. And each year, as suppliers consolidate and new markets emerge, the composition of the Software 500 ranking reflects those changes."
Software Magazine's annual compendium of software and services suppliers catalogs the ranking, financial performance and growth, and primary business sector for each company as well as trend information for the Software 500 as a whole. The Software 500 is a comprehensive look at the enterprise software landscape, encompassing both public and private companies that develop business software and services. The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 1999. Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since many others have other lines of business. Software revenue includes license fees, as well as maintenance and support revenue, professional services/consulting, and custom programming. The financial information is based on the calendar year and was gathered from Software Magazine's vendor survey, public documents and industry analysts.
True to its name, the Inter@ctive Week Fast 50 is largely about speed. Starting with the universe of information technology and communications, companies are ranked by measuring their rate of growth in revenue and operating income; by scoping out the one-year total return to stockholders; and then by factoring in the response from investors in terms of market capitalization. These criteria limit the list to real companies with real businesses, while recognizing rapid growth as an imperative in Internet-related industries.
According to Michael Zuckerman, vice president of marketing for Verity, "We continue to grow as a company and this is reflected in our winning these prestigious awards. Both the Software 500 and the Fast 50 are highly regarded by CIOs, senior IT managers, e-business managers, business executives, project leaders, software architects and analysts, and pure business executives who need to stay informed about their software and services options. We're honored to be selected by both of these publications that serve as yearly benchmarks for readers to evaluate their suppliers and make smart decisions."
