Autonomy Announces Major ASP Partnership

Autonomy to supply technology to SMEs on ASP platform

CAMBRIDGE, England - (BUSINESS WIRE)- June 8, 2000 - Autonomy (EASDAQ/NASDAQ: AUTN), a leading provider of infrastructure technology, announced a deal today, which means that for the first time its technology will be available to businesses via an ASP (Application Service Provider) platform. The deal, with one of the world's leading ASP providers,Computeraid, means that businesses will be able to harness the power of Autonomy's technology on a "pay-as-you-go" basis.

Autonomy's technology is currently used by many of the world's leading companies including General Motors, Reuters, Ericsson, Merrill Lynch, Volkswagen and the US Department ofDefense, to automatically make sense of the vast amounts of information stored on corporate Intranets and commercial websites. The deal means that SMEs can gain access to the powerof this technology on an outsourced basis.

KNOWLEDGEfirst, which is based on Autonomy's award-winning Portal in a Box software(TM), will be available via ComputerAid's brand new ASP platform, WASP, which has beenspecially developed to provide a fully scalable, flexible e-business solution.

Autonomy's software uses advanced pattern recognition technology to analyse and rank the ideas within any piece of text, regardless of its language or format. Having this uniqueability allows Autonomy to automate the most time-consuming and costly functions involved with deploying an eBusiness solution or corporate portal, including categorising, tagging, hypertext linking and personalising the delivery of content.

Dr. Mike Lynch, CEO and founder of Autonomy, commenting on the deal said, "This is an important step for Autonomy as the ASP market is a significant growth area at the moment andlooks set to become the next stage in the foundation of the new Internet economy. We are delighted to be working with Computeraid, a well- established and respected partner, in this endeavour."

Dr. Lynch continued: "All businesses, whether large or small, have massive amounts of unstructured information which needs to be managed efficiently and easily. Our softwareremoves the need for manually tagging or indexing documents by automating this process, and allows companies to concentrate resources on their core business."

Computeraid have established a partnership with hardware vendor Compaq to underlie their ASP offerings.
