Verity and SAP Team Up for mySAP.com Knowledge Warehouse

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2000-05-02 - Verity, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise and Internet knowledge retrieval solutions, today announced that SAP AG, the leading provider of inter-enterprise software solutions, has selected Verity to provide advanced knowledge retrieval capabilities in SAP's Knowledge Warehouse (SAP KW), a new component of its E-business environment mySAP.com.

The Verity Search Module (VSM) for SAP R/3 can be used by all SAP customers who have already installed the SAP KW component. Using VSM the user can efficiently search the entire SAP Knowledge Warehouse database when working within SAP applications. Several hundred SAP customers are already using this new component.

The SAP Knowledge Warehouse, the cornerstone of SAP's integrated knowledge solution, supports all stages of knowledge management, including knowledge modeling, the management of information objects, transfer, distribution and translation of knowledge, and efficient company-wide information access. Users needing information can access the entire contents of the SAP Knowledge Warehouse either from SAP R/3 or from their personal workspace via mySAP.com, using a standard web browser.

"SAP and Verity have had a mutually beneficial relationship for many years, and we are very pleased our companies are now extending this relationship," said Hugo Sluimer, Verity's vice president of european operations. "SAP already uses Verity technology in their own intranet and Internet, in the SAP R/3 Service Center as a CD-ROM application, in the SAP R/2 online service and now in powering SAP KW as part of the mySAP.com portal. Our long-term partnership is the basis for delivering SAP customers the highest quality service and the best capabilities for their enterprise solutions."

"Verity's technology allows us to effectively support information access in the Knowledge Warehouse," added Rainer Zinow, director GBU Knowledge Warehouse at SAP. "The end users profit from the Verity knowledge retrieval functions and can quickly and easily find all the information they need, regardless of where and in what format the content is stored."

In the near future, SAP plans to integrate Verity technology into other components of mySAP.com as well.
