Autonomy Signs Global Deal With Compaq

Compaq's Professional Services Division will recommend, implement, integrate and support Autonomy's technology world-wide

CAMBRIDGE, England, 2 May 2000 - Autonomy today announced a global agreement with Compaq through which Autonomy will become the recommended technology of choice for clients of Compaq's Global Services Division requiring solutions for the management of unstructured information.

Compaq's Global Services division has 27,000 employees. Under the terms of the agreement, Compaq will recommend Autonomy as the solution for managing and personalising unstructured data in Compaq's clients' applications, across the globe. Compaq will also handle all project support and integration issues, investing in an EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia) Knowledge Management Competency Centre based in the U.K and Ireland, which will be staffed by specialists trained in Autonomy's technology.

Anoop Garg, Director, Worldwide Messaging and Collaboration at Compaq Services, commented:

"As a result of their market leading technology, we have selected Autonomy as a solution provider for our clients who need to manage large volumes of unstructured information. This partnership will enable us to offer our clients cost-effective, automated solutions with full support and integration. In addition, a joint international marketing campaign will help ensure that Autonomy and Compaq are considered a premier solutions provider wherever there is a need for this technology."

Dominic Johnson, Marketing Director of Autonomy, said:

"We are delighted to partner with Compaq, a premier member of the technology community, in this agreement. The alliance between Compaq and Autonomy will combine an outstanding product set with a comprehensive support and integration service, all of which will be proactively marketed on a global scale. It has always been our strategy to be a developer of leading edge software to address the growing market for the management of unstructured data, and to use an indirect sales strategy as a means of distributing our products. This relationship is a prime example of this strategy, and will lay a firm foundation for Autonomy to extend its reach across international markets through third parties."
