Virage VideoLogger 4.0 Software Recognized as a "Best of Show" Product at NAB 2000
Virage VideoLogger 4.0 Software Recognized as a "Best of Show" Product at NAB 2000
Out of 1,600 Exhibitors, Virage Selected as a "Pick Hit" of the Show by Video Systems Magazine
SAN MATEO, CA—April 25, 2000 —Virage, Inc., a leading provider of products and application services that make video searchable and interactive, today announced that Video Systems magazine has selected VideoLogger™ 4.0, the latest version of Virage's video indexing platform, as one of the 'best of show' products exhibited at the annual NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Convention and Exhibition. The show was held recently in Las Vegas (April 10-14) and featured some 1,600 exhibitors and their products. As one of only 15 recipients of the magazine's coveted "Video Systems Pick Hits Awards," Virage joins other award winners including such video manufacturing and software heavyweights as Sony, JVC, Mitsubishi, Apple and Avid.
"While we selected mostly traditional video industry products for this year's awards, the judges chose Virage because of its unique contribution to the rapidly intertwining video business and the Internet," said Stephen Porter, editor-in-chief of Video Systems. "Virage's video indexing software makes it possible for broadcasters and corporations alike to make proprietary video content as accessible as text on the Internet. With indexed video, distribution of content over an internal intranet or over the Internet is simplified. It is a singular achievement, and we are pleased to pay it appropriate recognition."
In its 12th year of presenting these awards to NAB convention exhibitors, Video Systems honors the 15 video products that the magazine's judges feel are the most innovative and useful introduced at the show. The judges are comprised of seasoned video veterans who scour the NAB show floor looking for tools that will prove useful in the daily lives of video professionals. The full results of the awards will be published in the magazine's June, 2000 issue.
Virage's VideoLogger software enables owners of video content to publish, manage and distribute their video assets over the Internet or corporate intranets. Virage has been expanding the role of VideoLogger-enabled video in broadcast, business and entertainment. For example, broadcasters and corporations such as CNN, Telecinco, General Motors and Harvard Business School use VideoLogger as the front end to comprehensive digital media management systems to provide immediate search and browse of live and archived footage.
Virage also uses VideoLogger as a key component for its service offering, Virage Interactive. For example, VideoLogger provides the basis for delivering cost-effective video solutions to ABCNEWS, CNET and C-SPAN, who use Virage's application services to publish and syndicate their video assets online. Also, major Hollywood motion picture studios including MGM, Paramount Studios and Warner Bros. are using Virage Interactive to create searchable Internet film libraries, enabling them to publish movie clips online while letting studio staff members access indexed films online.
"We are honored that Video Systems has selected VideoLogger for this prestigious award, allowing us to stand out among the exceptional products exhibited at NAB," said Carlos Montalvo, VP of marketing at Virage. "We believe that our software and services are providing the foundational technology that enables media companies to convert their broadcast assets into interactive broadband programming."
