Vignette Licenses Autonomy's Technology To Power New E-Business Offering
Autonomy Offered as Key Component in Vignette Application Power Pack™
San Francisco, Calif. (April 11, 2000) - Autonomy, Inc. today announced that Vignette Corporation (NASDAQ: VIGN), a leading supplier of eBusiness applications for building online businesses, has selected Autonomy's proven concept-based technology for the Vignette Application Power Pack - a new product featuring a collection of re-useable, packaged application modules designed to help companies rapidly assemble, deploy, and reconfigure eBusiness applications. By embedding Autonomy's technology, Vignette will provide customers with powerful, integrated facilities for processing and delivering vast amounts of unstructured content. This new partnership will also enable Vignette customers to purchase and easily integrate other Autonomy modules to include Channels, Update, Hypertext Linking, Community and Profiling.
Autonomy's technology analyzes and ranks the ideas within any piece of text, regardless of its language or format. Having this unique ability allows Autonomy to automate the most time-consuming and costly functions involved with deploying an eBusiness solution, including categorizing, tagging, hypertext linking and personalizing the delivery of content.
According to Bill Daniel, Vignette's senior vice president of products, delivering accurate information is essential to the success of eBusiness solutions. "We chose Autonomy because their proven technology is able to automatically identify the concepts within Web pages, documents and emails. This unique ability allows Autonomy to understand precisely what content a user needs which is a key capability for building powerful, personalized eBusiness applications."
"We are pleased to partner with Vignette to deliver a critical component of the Vignette Application Power Pack," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "The combination of Vignette and Autonomy will enable organizations to deploy innovative, cost-effective eBusiness solutions for managing information and delivering personalized interactions."
