MGM.com Selects Virage to Create Searchable Internet Library of MGM Films

Offers Users Movie Clips from the World's Largest Collection of Modern Films

SAN MATEO, CA—April 6, 2000—Virage, Inc., a leading provider of products and application services that make video searchable and interactive, today announced it has signed an agreement with MGM.com, the Internet arm of legendary Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, to create a searchable Internet library of some of the most popular motion pictures from the studio's vast film library. MGM will use this searchable library to publish select movie clips on its web site as well as to provide MGM internal staff with accessibility to an online video search of the films.

According to David Rondan, executive director of operations at MGM.com, the title-driven motion-picture library will enable the public to search out clips from a range of high-visibility MGM movies and then watch them on their computer desktops. This new functionality represents a key component of a major redesign of the studio's web site, and will be launched in midyear.

Rondan noted, "We selected Virage for this challenging and unique project because they have the most compelling end-to-end solution and proven experience in this segment of the streaming media world. We're pleased that they're joining us as our strategic partners in this significant new effort."
