Brio Teams With Autonomy To Redefine B2B Portals
Brio.Portal to Integrate Autonomy to Deliver Industry's First Proactive Solution for The Delivery of Structured and Unstructured Information
PALO ALTO, Calif., March 27, 2000 - Brio Technology (NASDAQ: BRIO) today announced it is licensing Autonomy's technology for the automatic discovery, categorization and personalization of vast amounts of unstructured information including documents, emails and web content.
Integrated with Brio.Portal, the combined offering provides the industry's most comprehensive and proactive enterprise portal solution that leverages applications, production and warehouse data.
"As building e-business relationships on the Web becomes Job One for participating in the new economy, successful operators will create compelling online experiences by providing proactive function- and customer-specific webtops." stated Hadley Reynolds, Research Director, The Delphi Group. "These portals will aggregate specialized content and create a personalized context for participating in any B2B exchange. Brio has taken a long step forward by integrating Autonomy technology to expose and deliver information from unstructured sources. The relationship with Autonomy will help give the Brio.Portal offering the range e-business builders are demanding."
The basis of this combined product offering is Brio's customizable and extensible framework that enables organizations to quickly deploy business-to-consumer, business-to-employee and business-to-business initiatives that allow employees, partners and customers to conduct self-service and drive improved business performance.
As an open architecture, Brio.Portal delivers a powerful framework to manage, secure, personalize and version content.
This extensible framework will now deeply integrate with Autonomy technology to automate the operations needed to support a scalable e-business solution.
"As the industry's leading analytic portal solution, Brio.Portal will now incorporate Autonomy's concept-matching technology to deliver both structured and unstructured content to our customers," stated John Schroeder, Executive Vice President of Products and Services at Brio. "Brio is providing a deeply integrated solution that places no additional deployment burden on customers, and delivers accurate and relevant results."
The integration of Autonomy's pattern-matching technology enables Brio.Portal to identify and rank the main concepts within any piece of text (independent of the language). Autonomy's solution retrieves relevant matches and assigns a rating far more accurate than any keyword -based system on the market today.
Autonomy also enables the automatic categorization, linking and personalization of information.
"By automating many of the otherwise manual tasks associated with maintaining portals, Autonomy will help Brio customers reduce operating costs and deliver relevant information in a timely manner," stated Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy.
"This combined offering will increase user productivity by proactively delivering the structured and unstructured information individuals need to make better business decisions. We look forward to working with Brio and its customers to deliver a robust corporate portal solution."
