Leading Electronic Publisher Expands Use of Verity
SUNNYVALE, CA. - 2000-03-22 - The Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP), a world leader in electronic publishing, and Verity (Nasdaq: VRTY) today announced a significant extension to their technology partnership. IOPP will expand its use of Verity Information Server from the successful Axiom online research site to provide advanced search and retrieval capabilities for its large portfolio of online research journals. The Verity technology will also be used to set up an in-house knowledge management system.
Under the partnership, IOPP will extend its use of Verity Information Server to provide the core search technology for the flagship Electronic Journals service, which provides access to over 100,000 articles from 32 of the Institute's research journals, with full text articles dating back to 1991. Subscribers will also be able to use Verity to search new and existing products based on the Electronic Journals platform, including Physics Express letters, a searchable database of over 9,000 letters and rapid communications published in 13 IOPP journals.
IOPP also plans to use Verity Information Server in the development of an advanced knowledge management system on the company's corporate intranet. The knowledge management system will enable IOPP employees to find business-critical information online including department specific documents, profiles of current staff, personnel and human resources references and technical information concerning the online services.
