Verity Names Michael D. Mooney Vice President of Business Development
Industry Veteran Brings Seasoned Business Development and Sales Management Experience to Leading Knowledge Retrieval Company
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2000-02-29 - Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise and Internet knowledge retrieval solutions, today named Michael D. Mooney to the position of vice president of business development. Mooney, who has extensive experience in strategic partnership and sales management, assumes worldwide responsibility for identifying and developing strategic relationships with high-value partners. Mooney reports to Anthony J. Bettencourt, president of Verity.

Mooney has over 14 years of experience in sales management and partnership experience in the areas of enterprise and Internet software. Prior to joining Verity, he served as vice president of North American sales for Adaptive Media, a leading provider of visual collaborative commerce software and services, where he successfully started and expanded North American operations. Before that, Mooney was vice president of western operations for Versant Corporation (NASDAQ: VSNT). During his tenure at Versant, he was recognized as a key contributor in establishing the company as the leading provider of object-oriented database technology with dominance in the telecommunications market, resulting in the company's successful IPO. Mooney has also held a variety of sales and sales management positions at both Alantec and Rockwell CMC.
