Verity Announces BroadVision Integration Program

Quickstart Program Enables Customers to Quickly Integrate Verity's Powerful K2 Toolkit with BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise for High-Performance Knowledge Retrieval

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2000-02-15 - Verity, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise and Internet knowledge retrieval solutions, today announced a Broadvision Quickstart Program to enable customers to easily integrate the Verity K2 Toolkit with BroadVision "One-To-One Enterprise". BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise is an industrial-strength software application system for rapid development and real-time operation of large-scale, personalized e-commerce applications. Current joint customers include, but are not limited to, cozone.com, RS Components and The Home Depot.

Verity's advanced technology augments BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise by arming e-businesses with more advanced text retrieval precision, scalability and application integration features needed to customize product catalog navigation, search on extremely large volumes of content and provide fast results to large numbers of users shopping on-line. Adding Verity's K2 to the One-To-One product line delivers scalable search capabilities that can handle extremely large volumes of users and content across multiple servers. The Verity K2 smart information retrieval system delivers an impressive combination of high-speed performance and concept-based search, enabling customers to locate what they want, no matter how simple or complex the query.

"Today's markets are changing faster than ever and customers are demanding more attention," said Anthony Bettencourt, president of Verity. "And maintaining solid relationships with employees, suppliers and partners is critical for staying competitive. Unlike the patchwork approach followed by many platform providers, tool vendors, and limited "point" applications, BroadVision couples One-To-One Enterprise with a comprehensive implementation methodology that guides customers through to a quick deployment. Our QuickStart program," continued Bettencourt, "is designed to enable our customers to quickly and easily combine the powerful capabilities of both K2 and One-To-One to deliver consistent, unique and relevant customer experiences in order to foster customer loyalty and, ultimately, customer retention."

"We have a number of strategic customers who have implemented both K2 and One-To-One," said Sunil D. Nagdev, Verity's vice president, professional services and technical support. "It just makes sense to formalize a program to help our customers implement the combined solutions faster and easier."

About the Verity/BroadVision QuickStart Program

The QuickStart program provides customers with a straightforward integration of Verity K2 and BroadVision One-To-One. The program includes two weeks of Verity consulting services. The integration is BroadVision One-To-One version-number-independent and is transparent to any pre-existing search software. Use of the familiar BroadVision user interface dramatically reduces the need for retraining of administrative staff. The QuickStart program is available now from Verity.

About BroadVision

BroadVision, Inc. is a leading worldwide supplier of personalized e-business applications. BroadVision's end-to-end solutions enable companies and governments to rapidly deploy and cost-effectively operate secure, scalable, intelligent, and flexible e-business applications for e-commerce, financial services and knowledge management. The company's entire product line has experienced strong growth and increasing acceptance by Global 2000 businesses, governments and pure-play "e-startups."

About Verity K2 Toolkit

Verity K2 Toolkit allows brokered search across multiple servers and multiple CPUs to provide the most relevant search results from many information sources without sacrificing the speed or accuracy of the results displayed. As the number of users, queries, or amount of data increases, K2 applications can keep pace with increased demands by adding new CPUs or servers to the network without bringing down the application. Providing 24x7 fault tolerant operations, the Verity K2 Toolkit isolates failures of individual nodes or servers from the rest of the system, ensuring that applications are available when they are needed.

The Verity K2 Toolkit also supports Active Server Pages/COM and Java™, allowing easy integration across a wide range of application servers and Java environments, including Microsoft IIS/Site Server, Weblogic, iPlanet, Websphere, Java Server Pages, and Apache with JServ. With Industry-standard C language and Perl APIs, Verity's K2 Toolkit helps speed application deployment and gives corporate accounts added flexibility in application development, especially for e-commerce and business-to-business application solutions.
