Cardiff MediClaim Emerges As A New Weapon In the Battle Against The Rising Cost of Healthcare

Cardiff MediClaim v2.0 allows HMO, PPO and TPA organizations to meet legislated requirements to reduce the cost of healthcare administration

San Diego - 2000-01-31 - Cardiff Software, Inc. today announced Cardiff MediClaim v2.0, the latest release of its automated claims processing solution. Cardiff MediClaim reduces the cost of healthcare administration by eliminating the manual data entry of HCFA and UB-92 regulated forms, and by providing an information onramp and online access to patient claim information.

Driven by Federal and State legislation that mandates the simplification of healthcare administration, a growing list of HMO's, PPO' s and Third Party Administrators (TPA) are selecting Cardiff MediClaim to automate the processing of medical claims. Legislation like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Payment Error Prevention Program (PEPP), are also driving organizations to choose Cardiff MediClaim to automate customer service, providing online access to previously processed payments, claim forms and attached documents. Healthcare industry leaders that have selected Cardiff MediClaim include Associated Administrators, Future Vision, Shared Medical Alternatives, Kaiser Permanente, National Health Plans and a growing number of national health care administrators and TPA's.

"Cardiff MediClaim has helped health care providers like Kaiser Permanente to automate their medical forms processing system, and to be one of the first health care maintenance organizations in the industry to comply with the Administrative Simplification standard of HIPAA," said Dennis Clerke, President and CEO of Cardiff Software. "Moreover, the new CPT 2000 codes in MediClaim v2.0 allow the validation of proper coding of diagnoses and procedures, thereby decreasing the rate of erroneously paid dollars - a key part of the PEPP requirement and a critical tool that is used to increase profitability."

New features available in Cardiff MediClaim v2.0 include improved Field 24 parsing, new data formatting and validation, and customizable Y2K rollover dates. MediClaim v2.0 has also increased the number of entries on the HCFA 1500 in Field 24 to 12 entries, complete with modifier and diagnosis codes. This increases the amount of data that MediClaim can process by 200%. MediClaim v2.0 also extends support for payment features through new charge total and charge formatting, as well as through CPT 2000 code validations.

Pricing and Availability

Cardiff MediClaim v2.0 is available today for $45,000. Unlike other companies that base pricing on the number of forms processed, Cardiff's MediClaim has no volume limits or "per click" premium. For more information please visit http://www.Cardiff.com/Products/MediClaim.

More About Cardiff MediClaim

Cardiff MediClaim was introduced in 1998 as the first turnkey product for automating the processing of HCFA 1500 and UB-92 medical claim forms and attachments. Prior to MediClaim, HMO's, service bureaus and Third-Party Administrators (TPA) attempting to automate could count on a custom install over 6 months at a cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Since its introduction, MediClaim has shown that it will reduce installation time by 75% and cost less than 40% of historical claim processing products.

MediClaim has also been proven to improve customer relations by nearly eliminating errors, and helps organizations maintain compliance with mandatory submission requirements from the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA). By exporting and storing images and index information into imaging systems, customer service representatives are able to immediately acquire the original documentation to resolve an issue.

Cardiff has also changed the price-performance equation over historical solutions. By using affordable Windows NT systems and its 'network cluster' load balancing system, MediClaim outperforms legacy UNIX solutions. This allows organizations to save money on every phase of implementing an automated solution - on hardware, software, total cost of implementation and on total cost of ownership.
