Mediasurface Embeds Autonomy To Enhance Web Content Delivery
New partnership adds value to content management leader's products
28th January 2000 CAMBRIDGE, England - Autonomy today announced that its technology has been adopted by Mediasurface Limited, the Internet applications company, to further extend their enterprise content management software to include one to one personalised delivery of Web-based content.
Mediasurface will embed Autonomy's technology in its content management product suite, offering the embedded product as an additional module that can be purchased separately.
Autonomy's CEO, Dr. Mike Lynch, commented: "Autonomy's business model is proving consistently successful, as our growing partnerships throughout the world currently show. We are delighted that Mediasurface has chosen Autonomy to add value to its offerings."
Mediasurface CEO Ben Hayman added "It is clear that customers now understand that enterprise content management is the central requirement for e-Business success. It is also clear that they see this encompasses high performance dynamic delivery as much as controlling the content contribution process. We look forward to further extending our sophisticated delivery engine products with automated 1to1 personalisation through the embedding of Autonomys unique technology."
At the heart of Autonomy's software is a pattern recognition technology which has the ability to analyse a piece of text and identify the main ideas. This allows the software to then determine how the text should be categorised, who should see it, what other relevant material it should be linked to, and how it should be tagged - which all happens automatically. Autonomy's technology is currently being used by a number of other high-profile electronic publishers and e-commerce providers worldwide, including breathe.net, SFGate, News Corporation, Associated Press, Reuters and Macmillan.
About Autonomy
Autonomy's technology powers large-scale, personalised systems for knowledge management, enterprise portals, new media publishing and electronic commerce. Because of its ability to analyse any piece of text (independent of the document's language) and identify and rank the main ideas, Autonomy can automate a broad range of labour-intensive tasks. These range from categorising information by subject matter, to inserting hypertext links to related material, to profiling users based on the ideas in the text they read or write, to delivering information to those most likely to be interested.
Autonomy was founded in 1996 and has offices in San Francisco, New York, Atlanta and Boston, in the United States as well as in Cambridge (England), Paris, Oslo, Sydney, Frankfurt, Milan, Brussels and Amsterdam. Among its 150 customers are Alcatel, Associated Press, Barclays Bank, British Aerospace, Clorox, News Corp., Procter & Gamble, Lucent Technologies, Merrill Lynch, SF Gate, Semi-tech, The Royal Mail, and Unilever. In addition, several software companies are licensing Autonomy's technology to add intelligence to their online publishing, knowledge management, email routing and document management applications, including SageMaker, FutureTense, Intraspect, Verge, Aeneid, Global Recall, Insight and Nexor.
On July 10, 1998, the company went public on the EASDAQ exchange (Easdaq: AUTN).
