Virage Names Alfred Castino As Chief Financial Officer
Former PeopleSoft CFO Brings Over 20 Years of Experience to Virage's Seasoned Management Team
SAN MATEO, CA—January 19, 2000—Virage Inc., a leading provider of interactive video search products and services, today announced the appointment of Alfred Castino as Chief Financial Officer. Castino comes to Virage with over 20 years of experience in planning and managing the financial and administrative organizations of high tech companies including: PeopleSoft, RightPoint, Chiron Corporation, Sun Microsystems, Inc., Wyse Technology and Hewlett Packard. As Virage's CFO, Castino will oversee the finance, accounting, human resource and general administration functions of Virage worldwide.

Prior to joining Virage, Castino was CFO of RightPoint, a pioneer and leading provider of real-time e-marketing solutions, where he recently completed a merger with E.phiphany for in excess of $500 million.
Before joining RightPoint, Castino held the position as Senior Vice President and CFO for PeopleSoft, a leading worldwide provider of enterprise management systems, where he developed and managed the company's financial and administrative infrastructure, including a staff of over 450 people. His responsibilities covered worldwide finance, legal, HR, facilities, investor relations, information systems and technology, and purchasing.
Before PeopleSoft, Castino was the vice president and corporate controller for Chiron Corporation, a $1.4 billion worldwide biotech and pharmaceuticals company with 7000 employees, integrating their finance and administration functions across a large and diverse set of businesses. His responsibilities covered external reporting, management reporting and analysis, forecasting, financial policies, SEC reports, internal controls, working capital management and business process re-engineering initiatives.
Prior to Chiron, Castino was the finance director for Sun Microsystems Inc. In his eight years at Sun, Castino held several positions including Director of Finance and Planning for the European Operations, Director of Finance for US Operations and Director of Finance Next Generation Systems. He was responsible for developing and implementing corporate financial policies and worldwide financial systems, financial planning, inventory controls, and maintaining European banking and vendor relations.
Prior to Sun, Castino worked for seven years at Hewlett-Packard Company, where he held various divisional finance management positions. Castino holds a CPA from the state of California, an MBA from Stanford University and a BA from Holy Cross College.
