Verity Announces Vignette Integration
Quickstart Program Enables Customers to Quickly Integrate Verity's Powerful K2 Toolkit with Vignette's Award-Winning StoryServer Content Management Application
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 2000-01-11 - Verity, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTY), a leading provider of enterprise and Internet knowledge retrieval solutions, today announced an integrated package of software and services to enable customers to easily integrate the Verity K2 Toolkit with Vignette StoryServer™, a leading platform for building online business applications. Current joint customers include, but are not limited to, Tandy Corporation, BNA, Sybase, TimeWarner and PurchasingCenter.com. Adding Verity's K2 to StoryServer delivers scalable search capabilities that can handle extremely large volumes of users and content across multiple servers. The Verity K2 smart information retrieval system delivers an impressive combination of high-speed performance and concept-based search, enabling customers to locate what they want, no matter how simple or complex the query.
"In this highly volatile online world where the competition is only a click away, companies need to differentiate themselves from their competitors by providing the right content at the right time," said Anthony Bettencourt, president of Verity. "In other words, you need to make your site the easiest and most fulfilling place to shop on the Web. StoryServer, a leading solution for businesses, is running some of the highest-volume Web applications on the Internet today. Our QuickStart program is designed to enable our customers to quickly and easily combine the powerful capabilities of both K2 and StoryServer to deliver consistent, unique and relevant customer experiences in order to foster customer loyalty and, ultimately, customer retention."
"Because so many of our customers have implemented both K2 and StoryServer, we've developed extensive experience in integrating the two products over the past few years," said Sunil D. Nagdev, Verity's vice president, professional services and technical support. "At the suggestion of our customers, we decided to make it even faster and easier to combine the power of K2 with the feature-rich commerce platform provided by StoryServer, giving high traffic sites a powerful e-commerce solution."
According to Raman Sud, vice president of engineering and co-founder of PurchasingCenter.com, "Our experience with the Verity has been extremely good. The bottom line is that, in a short amount of time, we were able to understand what it took and then easily and quickly integrate Verity search with StoryServer. We're extremely happy with the result, and our Web site is dramatically simpler for our customers to navigate. A formalized program will only improve an already great experience."

About Verity K2 Toolkit
Verity's unequaled combination of high-speed performance and concept-based search enables online customers to find items and information, no matter how simple or complex the question. The use of Verity's "fuzzy search" technology automatically expands a customer's request to encompass products and categories, increasing the likelihood that a desired item will be found online. In addition, the Verity K2 Toolkit allows brokered search across multiple servers and multiple CPUs to provide the most relevant search results from many information sources without sacrificing the speed or accuracy of the results displayed. As the number of users, queries or data increases, K2 applications can keep pace with increased demands by adding new CPUs or servers to the network without bringing down the application. Delivering 24x7 fault tolerant operations, K2 isolates failures of individual nodes or servers from the rest of the system, ensuring that applications are available when they are needed.
